Right Before the Storm

Right Before the Storm

Henry is my third baby. He is a beautiful, healthy, autistic, little boy. He was scheduled to be delivered February 25th, 2020 (one day after his big brother’s birthday and two days after his daddy’s birthday.) however on February 19th, everything went completely out of control. I went to my last OB appointment with my rambunctious 1 year old in tow. It was rainy and the traffic was awful. My blood pressure was very elevated right from the start of my appointment. Sitting and waiting for my doctor - I was getting more and more worried because the numbers kept climbing but I felt no different. At one point my blood pressure was nearing 200 over another very high number. In a whirlwind of less than 1 hour, my littlest boy was delivered into this world. Perfectly 7 lbs of screaming joy! However my blood pressure kept creeping. It became a long road of blood pressure medication, monitoring and doctor visits to finally get back to normal. I continued to have high blood pressure for close to a year post partum. This was also during the very start of Covid so it was a very unique time. This changed the way we had to monitor and visit with my doctors.
