On 11/21/21 I was spending the day at my sisters with my husband and nieces. I had just reached 34 weeks and had been dealing with swelling in my hands, feet, and face and just had a general feeling of not feeling well. A few hours pass my husband and I go home and just as we turn into our apartment complex I have a severe pain in my right rib cage. It knocked the wind out of me and made me really sick. After failing to relax, my husband rushed me to the ER. There we found out my BP was 178/103 and the DR on call told me “I’m surprised you’re awake right now and not seizing or having a stroke” and proceeded to explain to me what preeclampsia was and he was inducing me.
After 22 hours my induction resulted in a C-section that had quickly turned emergency when my spinal failed. I had felt everything and needed to be put to sleep. My husband almost lost my daughter and I all in the same night.
But four years later we are both healthy and thriving. I have health anxiety now but with therapy healing has been possible.
This is my preeclampsia story. And it is a hard one. But it is mine.
