I went to school at 30 weeks pregnant thinking it was just another normal day. Around lunch time one of my student’s asked “what’s wrong with your ankles?” My ankles had swollen so badly that I couldn’t get my feet back into my shoes. I went to the OB, who then rushed me to the ER. I was admitted with severe preeclampsia and told that we would try to get me to 34 weeks. At 31 +2 I was forced to deliver via emergency c-section. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital after delivery, and ended up in the ICU. I left the hospital on multiple medications and at 8 months pp still had issues with my blood pressure. My son Robert spent 56 days in the NICU. He is almost 1 years old and thriving after a long road.
