Living With Postpartum Preeclampsia and Hypertension

During my last trimester of pregnancy, I had swollen feet that had slowly moved up to my legs and caused my legs to swell along with my feet. The OBGYN I was seeing said that was normal during pregnancy, but I felt like something was not right. I was scheduled for a C-section at 38 weeks due to the size of our daughter and having gestational diabetes. After the C-section I was still left with swollen feet and legs. The same OBGYN said it should go down and back to normal in time. About less than a week after being discharged with our newborn daughter, the OBGYN sent me to the hospital from their office due to extremely high blood pressure. My face was swollen and my eyes felt tingly and I was having a continuous headache and nausea. My feet and legs were numb from how swollen they were. The doctors and nurses in the hospital put me on Labetalol 200 mg and I had to take it 3 times a day. To this day in January of 2024, I am still dealing with high blood pressure and having it spike and put me out of work due to headaches and nausea. I've missed so much work due to it and I am filing for FMLA. I just wish it would go away. I am hoping that someday it'll go away and that I can live my life with normal blood pressure readings and work without it stopping me.
