Blood Pressure Was Fine, But Proteinuria Was Not

Wednesday morning 7/5/23 I went in for a non stress test, I had no idea walking in there would have led to me be admitted to the hospital. An elevated BP is what the reason was and that made the providers run further tests. Thank God for that because even though the BP reading was fine, the protein in my urine was not.

I was induced Wednesday early afternoon due to preeclampsia with severe features and did not deliver until 3:27am Friday morning 7/7/23. We welcomed our son Samaj after what seemed to be an hard and never-ending labor. My husband as well as my doctor and nurses made me aware of what happened because I have about ten minutes of that day that I don’t remember. I had a seizure while in labor and at the same time I was having contractions; I was told I had many at once which was considered a contraction storm. I was unresponsive for about ten minutes and when I came back I was sitting up getting an epidural. Before all of that I was told the hospital only had one anesthesiologist and there were many women in labor with preeclampsia with severe features just as myself. So they were not sure if he would get to me anytime soon. My body shut down and from what my nurses said they thought they lost me. They asked what did I see? They told me I had them laughing because when I came to I told my husband to go play the lottery and that I wanted to watch The Notebook.

Hours of being in labor and hours of pushing his head was noticeable but he came out weighing 5 pounds 15 ounces. Almost full term he was but he couldn’t have come at a better time. Perfection in a small package and he is all mine. Welcome to the world Samaj, God has blessed me with another precious gift.
