I had my first born at 38w from induction due to hypertension. A week after delivery I was admitted with postpartum preeclampsia. At the time I didn’t know the severity. After being on magnesium drip for two days I was able to go home. My doctor let me know for my next pregnancy I would be high risk. I decided I should educate myself on what preeclampsia is. When I got pregnant with my second born I was very sick the whole pregnancy. I started having elevated pressures at 17w and was diagnosed with gestational hypertension. By 24 weeks I was seeing a trend in my pressures increasing. My protein was also increasing. I started having to go to L&D Triage regularly for my pressures. I was being monitored by my OB and MF and they said I was trending towards preeclampsia again. The L&D triage nurses and doctors were getting annoyed that I kept coming in. They told me that I was causing my pressures to increase and told me that I should get on anxiety meds. At 31w I was having horrific heart palpitations with high pressures. It wasn’t until 32w when I got the unresponsive headache that I was admitted. I was able to get the two steroid shots for my sons lungs before he was delivered by C-section at 32w 5d. Even after delivery my pressures stayed scary high. I had to be on BP meds for 6 weeks to get it under control. I just want to encourage everyone to educate yourself because if I didn’t know what to look for I don’t think my son and I would be here today.
