Around 21 weeks gestation I began with severe headaches, spotty vision, high blood pressure, and just an overall feeling that something was wrong. For weeks I kept telling my OB that I felt off. I was sent to a high risk dr who dismissed me because my blood pressure was normal at that visit. A week later I was in the hospital and started on blood pressure medicine. Over the course of 2 months I had 9 hospital visits for worsening symptoms. Every time I was dismissed and made to feel stupid and sent home. when I was 33 weeks gestation I was urgently rushed from my high risk dr to the hospital because my BP was 170’s/100’s. I was admitted and the next day induced. My baby girl was born 7 weeks premature and had a 6 day NICU stay, sent home with nurse visits, and a home apnea/heart monitor. Every time I went to the hospital or my OB office, I wasn’t taking seriously because there was never any protein in my urine, but I had every other symptom of preeclampsia. The high risk Dr in the hospital diagnosed me with atypical severe preeclampsia. If I never fought for myself and my symptoms, I’m afraid me or my daughter might not have made it
