On New Year's Eve in 2018, My life was forever changed.
Not only did I have my first child, but this was the beginning of my journey with Postpartum Preeclampsia (PP). After having shortness of breath, swollen feet, and a blood pressure of 160/100 & climbing, one week after delivery, I was back in the hospital with a magnesium drip. Fast Forward to 2022, I was told that baby aspirin once-a-day is all I need to prevent PP with my second pregnancy. Not only was this inaccurate, but I experienced more complications and two additional hospital stays.
Today, I can no longer have children due to the impact it has on my heart. Through weight loss and blood pressure medications, I have been able to maintain a healthy blood pressure range. However, I still have an irregular heartbeat and experience heart palpitations
It is my goal to generate more awareness, research, and take the steps necessary to ensure that medical professionals are knowledgeable in caring for and ultimately preventing Postpartum Preeclampsia. I hope that you will join me at the Promise Walk and donate today.
