I wish I could be at all of these--this sounds really great--I am so impressed. Thanks Carol! Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Preeclampsia Foundation Inaugural 5K Walk-A-Thon
Saturday, May 7th

Gallup Park, 3000 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor MI

This is a beautiful park that offers much to do! For those of you that are traveling a distance you might consider planning to make a day of it at the park after the Walk is over. There are picnic benches, grills, playgrounds, fishing spots, open fields for games, and a livery for canoe and other boat rentals. The park paths are also great for rollerblading and bike riding. Kids will love it! Strollers and dogs on leashes (please bring clean-up materials) are welcome at the park and on the Walk. Check out the park link for more information: ... allup.html

We will have the Walk rain or shine, so come either way!

Please use the Fuller Road entrance and follow the drive across the one-lane bridge to the farthest parking lot area (when you see the playground and pavilion you’re in the right place). We will be set up in the Bernard Maas pavilion nearest to the playground.

8:00 – 8:45am - Pre-registration and On-site registration (tables will be set up in/near the pavilion)

Pre-registration: For those that have pre-registered and pre-paid, please pick up your T-shirt at this table.

On-site registration: For those that need to fill out the registration form and/or pay your entry fee ($20), please come to this table to complete the registration process and get a t-shirt.

9:00am – Walk starts

The park offers a looped course that when completed two times equals 5K. We will start and finish near the Bernard Maas pavilion. Here’s a visual of the course (disregard the start and finish noted in this aerial photo) :

We are thankful to the many merchants who have donated wonderful items for us to conduct a silent auction during the Walk-A-Thon! We will have tables set up under the pavilion displaying the items along with sign-up sheets for placing your bids. Bidding will open at 8:00am and close at 11:00am. We’ll announce the winners at the close of bidding (you must be present to win and present payment). We would love for you to come prepared to bid, help us raise more money for the cause, and take home a fabulous gift for Mother’s Day. And we haven’t forgotten husbands and Dad’s………..there are items the men will love too! Check out some of the items:

Great Harvest gift bread basket

Trader Joe’s Italian gift basket

Mary Kay cosmetics bag & gift certificate

Learning Express baby themed toy basket

Detroit Tigers autographed baseball

Detroit Tigers deluxe ticket packages

U-M autographed memorabilia

ESPN duffle bag filled with great items and autographed by ESPN commentator Mike Tirico

West End Grill dinner for two

Photo Generations Child Portrait Session with free print and Family Portrait Session with free print

Lewis Jeweler Waterford crystal candle holders (valued at $250!)

9-hole golf lesson from John Myers, assistant golf professional - Barton Hills Country Club

Legal services package from Michael G. Milliman, Esq., LLM (valued at $800!)

……………..and even more!

We have also received many generous gift certificates from merchants that we will give away in a drawing. All registered walkers will automatically be entered. The drawing will be held at the completion of the Walk.

Thanks to all of you who are making the time and effort to come and support this very important fundraiser! All the proceeds from the entry fees and auction items will go towards developing much needed awareness and education programs! Research has shown that the more educated a woman is about preeclampsia in her pregnancy, the better the outcome. We hope to help others avoid the tragedies that too often accompany this disorder.

See you all there!
