Our Stories-Our Stories-How to Share Your Story Christy My name is Christy and I now have a 15 mth old little boy who grows so much each day, I'm am so greatful for haveing the chance to experience motherhood and life, I am 20 yrs old, 19 yrs old when me my sons dad and of coarse my son went through the experience that has changed our lives forever. At 4 months along I started swelling in my hands feet and face, I was becoming very short of breath mainly while I was sleeping, I started haveing heart palpatations and seeing spots. We had gone to a routine doctors check up and had to write a list of symptoms to show our doctor so we wouldn't forget anything. He sort of shrugged us off and said that some complications were normal in pregnancy. We went home some what reluctant but our doctor said we were ok, why worry it was our first pregnancy and we should be able to trust our doctor. When 5 mths rolled around all symptoms prior were getting worse, I started to experience chest pain, not much but we were concerned. By this time I was waking up at night not able to breathe gasping for air. I was having some abdominal pain and so in turn my appetite started to deminish. I was seeing spots and getting headrushes every time I would stand up. My heart beat was becoming very irregular and I was having more heart palpatations. Again we wrote a list and went in for our routine check up, we had a ultrasound so this distracted everybody, we had went through this list anyhow and again we were told there was nothing to worry about, I felt it inside, that we were ill. This made us feel odd. But we went home anyway, might I add this is a 260 mile round trip. When 6 mths came around I couldn't eat at all. I wasn't sleeping good, my belly hurt in such a bad way every time I did try to eat I vomitted, greenish yellow bile... it was disgusting. My heart was beating out of my chest literally it hurt, my back right behind my heart hurt so bad it felt like my shoulder was out of place at times. So we do the same thing again and bring a note with us our doctor was not even concerned it was like he wasn't listening when we were talking to him. We should have gone to see another doctor but with our first pregnancy how do you make that decesion? We decided to come in every two weeks from this point on, I was dialated to 1 cm. This same thing went on until i was about 7 mths and 1 week along we went to the emergency room because i thought i was haveing a heart attack. the doctor did not address this problem or two other heart complaints. i was treated for bronchitus and sent home after what we thought was being treated very poorly. 1 week later we had a rutuine check up and their were no concerns expressed. 3 days short of our next appt. we went to the hospital and i was flown to a near by city for treatment. i was a yellow gray color. i looked very it is hard to believe something can sneak up on you like this but it happened so slow it is just hard to believe it sometimes. i am on alot of medication and i am slowly recovering but regardless i feel great and we are happy to be alive and together.
