Because this condition is transitory in nature—women become members of a silent club, experiencing a crisis and in some cases a traumatic event, without emotional or physical preparation or the support of women who have been there before. All too often we are told we should be grateful to be alive, to be healthy, to have a baby, to have a healthy baby, to be able to try again to have another baby, to have had our baby for just a little while. Unfortunately, some women do not survive and some women survive without their baby (or babies) but carry permanent scars to their emotional and physical health.
