JUNE 07, 2007 -

Peter C. Zuras, CLU, ChFC, of Potomac, Md., secured a $6,250 grant from the MDRT Foundation on behalf of the Preeclampsia Foundation.

Zuras, of New York Life and a 32-year MDRT member, is an active supporter of the Preeclampsia Foundation and nominated and endorsed the grant application. The Preeclampsia Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports women who have been impacted by preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The MDRT Foundation grant will help fund a program to produce and distribute a series of educational DVDs about this important health issue that affects one in 12 pregnancies.

“I am personally committed to the cause of preeclampsia education, since my first granddaughter died as a result of this dangerous disorder,” explained Zuras. “Like most pregnant women, my daughter and her husband knew nothing about this condition and were not advised by health care providers to take her symptoms more seriously. After fighting for her own life and mourning the tragic death of her baby, my daughter began to work tirelessly to educate other women, heath care providers and other influential stakeholders.”

Representing the MDRT Foundation, Zuras will present this grant to the Preeclampsia Foundation on June 15, 2007, at the 2nd Annual Silver King Banquet at Gasparilla Marina in Placida, Fla. The banquet is produced by preeclampsia survivor Alli Creek and her husband, former Major League BaseballÒ player Doug Creek, as a fundraiser with the professional tarpon tournament community.
