If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
Re : If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
22 weeks... then 23 weeks... then 32 weeks. Each time I delivered within 2 weeks of diagnosis.
Re : If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
For me, the first time I was 19 weeks, the second time around I made it to 34 weeks. I won't say that it was worse or better than the first time, but I will say that I was not allowed to get sick like I did the first time. As soon as it seemed a problem was starting, I was delivered. I made it 14 weeks past my first pg and we waited a full year inbetween before getting pg again. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

Thanks for the info!

Jean,
I forgot to mention that I got pregnant with Jason 8 months after having Jonathan. We did not plan it, it just happened. I did not have any problems except for the PE and HELLP (no uterine rupturing). Also, I was 37 years old when I had Jonathan, 38 for Jason.

Jean,
I thought I responded last night, but i do not see it posted. If this is a duplicte - sorry. My HELLP was less severe the 2nd time around and it happened later in the pregnancy. My second son was healthy and able to come home with me. I kept the same OB, but also requested to see a perinatologist. The Peri just made me feel more comfortable. I was racked with nerves once I hit the 23 wk marker. On three occasions, my OB ordered additional testing based on my BP reading or how I was feeling. All three were false alarms, but I was glad he ordered it. I was only placed on bed rest once - and it was for 3 days, then my numbers went down and I was able to go back to work.

Re : If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
My OB is doing a BUNCH of testing to see if and what underlying conditions' I may have. One thing we have discovered is I have a positive COOMBS test and AIHA. My OB has not discouraged me from getting pregnant again BUT she did say I was going to be watched like a hawk and that I would get tired of seeing them. She did say and we agreed on that IF I start to show ANY signs of HELLP, I would be delivered asap regardless of what gestational age I am at. She is working closely with several MFM's to get me a viable baby. I have to say I am honored to have such a good dr who has also taken this personal. She did say that I was super high risk and me and one other of her patients is a the top of her list, she also has taken me as a private patient so I won't have to see the other drs in the practice. I love my OB :) I just wish there was more of her to go around.

Shay, was it more or less severe the 2nd time?
Re : If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
I got HELLP early at 28 weeks for my first and later at 35 weeks for my second. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Delissa - did your Doctor tell you that since you got help so early mine was (26 wks) that you were more likely to get it again? Or that you shouldn't try for another?
Jean I read it usually happens later, except in that 11% (which is me!) I got it at 26 weeks and am thinking of TTC again, it's been two years for me. I did find out I have an underlying disorder Factor V...so maybe the blood thinners will help me, I hope!

Re : If you've had HELLP 2x or more...
I had HELLP at 20 weeks in June of last year. We are going to TTC after my drs get together and see what is REALLY going on with me. Until then it is on hold but stay tuned...I am not going down without a fight :)
