This is a little late, but I too had problems on Labetelol and it didn't seem to control my BP that well when I had severe kidney disease. I was switched to Metoprolol after 2 months along with Norvasc (if I remember correctly) and it made a huge difference. I think it ended up helping me get off dialysis much faster. I'm now still on Metoprolol, but a very low dose, and am currently 34 weeks pregnant. My BP numbers have been excellent through the whole pregnancy, though I did increase my dose a bit for about 1-2 months then decreased it back to the usual dose for the rest of the pregnancy.

Hope that helps. Sarah

I was on generic Procardia last pregnancy. I know every time I have switched meds it's taken me a few days to adjust. I've also experienced fatigue when over medicated and my pressures were low.

How are you feeling? If you still aren't doing great I'd suggest talking to your doc. Everyone is different and we have had posters who have experienced bad reactions with certain meds before.

It's a pretty common one- we were on it. Have you been monitoring your BP since on it? I know when I started it I had similar symptoms as it felt like my body got used to the lower (healthier) pressure.

Meds for Hypertension

Postby hfeather2 » Wed May 01, 2013 01:30 pm

Hello! I am currently taking Labetalol, in order to make sure my body can handle this med before getting pregnant again. I'm having terrible fatigue and headaches from the med, however, and am wondering if anyone else has used different meds during pregnancy?
