I'm glad I was able to give some of you hope. That was my goal.

I did forget to state in my email that all of the vitamins, etc I took was what my high risk specialist but me on based on my body and history so everyone of course is different and you need to ask your doctor before you do anything.

I was on the heparin because I was having some clotting issues as well as MTHR.

Thanks for reading my posting.

Its good for the soul to read a success story because you can find hope. The journey seems so long and tough, yet so easy to many around so your story helps a lot. We lost Caitlyn in April 2006, I had severe PE and HELLP at 28 weeks. We had a miscarriage in May at 10 weeks and been trying again for a few months. Its hard, very hard, but you give us hope. Thank-you.

They put you on heparin, did you have any underlying clotting disorders? Thanks for sharing you story.

Thank you for sharing your success story. My husband and I would like to try and conceive sometime in the spring of 2008.
I also wanted to add a thank you to Kara for your post. I think it's important for all to realize that what might work for one person may not work or be harmful to another.

I'm so glad to hear your success story after so much heartbreak! Thank you for sharing this with us.

For those who may be new to the site, or lurking, I just want to remind us all, that all supplements are not safe, and should only be taken when prescribed by a doctor. There are no "can't hurt, but might help" supplements...unless your doctor prescribes them. Aspirin can cause miscarriage and implantation problems if not used under the appropriate health scenarios. Vitamin c & E has been proven to potentially cause harm, extra calcium can cause problems to those who do not metabolize or absorb it properly, or who have conditions that are made worse by it.

We all want to do as much as we can for ourselves and our babies in future pregnancies, but PLEASE, please, please run all additions to your nutrition past your doctors before starting anything other than a prenatal. What might be right for someone else, may not be right for you. Preeclampsia is caused by a multitude of factors and conditions, and even though something works for one person, it may in fact cause problems for another.

Talk to a high risk specilist that you trust and make sure your "cocktail" is approved before you conceive! Good luck to us all!!

Oh Christel, thank you for sharing. You have had a rough road and I'm sure holding your precious boy now, it was all worth it! I delivered at 26 weeks due to severe pre-e. Our son has survived, and while he has had so many preemie complications, his long term prognosis is good. DH and I are still trying to decide if/when we might try again. I love hearing good news stories. It makes me feel more willing to take the risk again. Enjoy your baby boy!

Thanks for sharing your strategy and "cocktail". My husband and I would like to try again next year after losing our daughter this past January, she was our first baby so we are still very much frightened but hopeful.

I've been trying to assembly my very own "cocktail" of things that "can't hurt, but might help" as far as what to take during prenancy, and it was very nice of you to share with the rest of us what may have worked for you.

Normal Pregnancy after Preeclampsia

Postby mom2ry&bren » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:08 am

I wanted to share my story to give hope to others out there. I never posted here before but I always looked for stories of success to give me hope and thought if I had one of those success stories some day that I would share it, so here it goes...

In January 2005 I went into the hospital at 23 weeks pregnant with my first baby thinking my water broke. It did not but after taking my blood pressure and running some test they said I had severe pre-eclampsia and had I not come in I could have had a stroke and/or died. I had no idea. I was very swollen but it was my first pregnancy I didn't know what was normal and it happened so fast. So I was on bed rest in the hospital until I delivered. Unfortunately, a week later my liver enzymes were elevated and I had to have a c-section at 24 weeks. Brennan was born on 1/29 weighing 13 ounces and was 9 1/2 inches long. He fought in the nicu 2 days before he died. I thought I was going to die from the pain of losing him. I really wanted to have another baby though.

10 months after that I had a late miscarriage. 9 months after that I had an early miscarriage. At this point I didn't think I would be able to have a baby. I got pregnant again right away and in June 2007, Ryan was born weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces. He was healthy and I went full term. No signs of preeclampia or any complications. Not even bed rest. I worked until the day before my scheduled csection.

Things I did:
I was going to a high risk dr about every 3 weeks.
Had lots of ultrasounds
I took my blood pressure everyday and wrote it down. so if my blood pressure was high at the office, I showed them there wasn't a pattern of it.
I took my prenatal vitamin, 1 baby aspirin, vitamin e, vitamin c, extra vitamin b6 and b12, I ate 3 tums (spread out throughout the day) for extra calcium, and I did heparin shots.

I made sure to drink AT LEAST 10 glasses of water a day. It was more like 12-14 glasses though. Stay hydrated ladies!!

I hope this helps anyone out there.

It is possible to have severe preeclampsia and then have a normal pregnancy.
