I bled for about 6-7 wks after my son was born. I think it was about 3-4 wks into that time period that it slowed to spotting and then started up again in a couple of days, but my periods were a little irregular for a while after I stopped bleeding completely after his birth. I've heard that it varies widely, anywhere from a couple of wks up to several months. Try not to worry too much, but keep your doc updated.

My first period was exactly one month after losing my daughter at 25 weeks. My peri recommended waiting 3-6 months before trying again. Good Luck!

I had my dd via c section at 30 weeks and remember at my six week check up I had already started my period.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts are with you and I am wishing you lots of TTC luck.

I'm sorry about your loss. When I lost my daughter, I had to deliver and have a d&c. That was September 26. I bled for a while and got my period November 1 and I'm pregnant now. So from the loss of my baby to being pregnant again was less than two months. Good luck at your appointment.

Eva,
Sorry about the loss of your baby and I hope you get a go ahead for TTC and that your journey is short!
I had my son at 33 weeks with an emergency c-section and I bleed for 2 1/2 weeks and I breast feed for 6 weeks. I finally got a "normal period" when my son was 2-3 months old. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted with what the peri tells you.

Eva,
I bled for quite a while after my c-section (about 10 weeks). I am almost positive that in the midst of the post-partum bleeding, I had a regular period (my doc said this is possible. I don't want to be gross or give tmi, but the color of the blood is different). I think it took about 8ish weeks.

I hope all goes well with your doctor visit.

After I lost my daughter in July, it took me about 8 weeks for my period to return. Good luck with the peri! Hope you hear good news.

Return of period after birth?

Postby hessburgs » Thu Jun 22, 637684 3:38 am

Hi Everyone-

My husband and I have an appointment with a peri this Wed. We're both nervous but also eager to discuss test results and to hear the doctor's advice on when we can try again. In addition to doing lots of research I've begun charting again and am wondering how long it took for others to resume their periods after giving birth. We lost our baby at 30 weeks just over a month ago.

Eva
