Alexa put back in hospital!--UPDATE 12/12

Yes Sonja they made sure I could BF. The first 24 hours I wasn't allowed but I would feed her formula and then pump. Now I am soley BF which is nice. The nurses were angels at the hospital!

Holly - my first dd also had jaundice and lost a lot of weight - the nurse at the hospital when we had to check back in was really great at making sure that I would not have to supplement - she helped me set up a tube on my finger to feed her breast milk through - just in case this might be an option for you. (I would bf her first and then give her the tube - it was easier for her to get milk from, but it meant lots of bfing and pumping for me, but it only lasted a little while).

My BP is doing great! Totally normal in the hospital so I don't have to check it at home anymore and I'm not on BP meds either! My OB told me though if I felt it was high to call ASAP but so far so good:)


I can't wait til tomorrow appt. to see her weight, the pedi said she would loose a little but I hope it's not a lot. If so I'm totally fine with supplementing formula but am praying I don't have to and she's gaining or staying the same:)

Oh I'm so sorry you went thru this! My little 7 pounder wound up losing close to a pound and had to stay two extra days while we were still in the hospital. Get as much rest as you can and nurse that little sweetie as often as you can so she gets reassuringly plump. :o)

I am so glad all is well now.
I recall going to the pediatrician 5 days after Sofia was born.
she was mildly jaundiced and was not feeding properly.
It was one of the most stressed out days ever.
Her jaundice was nothing to worry about and
she is taking formula & breast milk since I can't produce enough to satisfy her.

Addison had jaundice too, but on the 3rd day her levels started going down so we didn't have to treat her. We would have had the same situation though with being readmitted - it makes it so much scarier. With Jacob, we were able to treat him at home.

Sorry you had to go through all that!

How is your BP doing now that the baby is out? Mine went up (A LOT) right at first, but it's responding now to meds and seems to be controlled. I'm hoping to be off of them soon!

Thanks everyone, it was pretty scary but Í'm glad we are home and safe! Alexa is eating really well so far and I'm glad for that because I know she has to be gaining weight. Whatever goes in comes out and that's a good sign!
I'll update on Friday, wish us luck!
