I love that song, and though I have never thought of it in preemie terms, it fits.

And two months, or two years, I don't think it matters. The experience is always close to you. Sara is almost two and I still randomly tear up thinking about it.

Congrats on having your little Lily home with you

Good lyrics for parent and preemie

Don't these Phil Collin lyrics remind you of how small yet strong your preemie is, and how hard it was to leave her/him in the NICU every day, several times a day? It never got easier. Just reading these lyrics and thinking about it makes me get tears in my eyes. Even though she's been home for two months, the experience is still so close to my heart, and I feel so fiercely protective of her.

Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand
Hold it tight

I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always

When destiny calls you
You must be strong
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together
