My dd is 3 1/2 and she is around 36 inches and 32 pounds. Her ped thinks she is doing great as she is gaining weight. Caitlyn was the exact same way when she was 2, only around 24 pounds. My 19 month old is now 24 pounds and counting and she was a 36 weeker. If the ped is not concerned, I would try and not be. They all seem to have growth spurts here and there before you know it.

Thank you for all your comments. Her appointment was a few weeks ago and the doctor wasn't worried since she has grown and gained weight since her last visit.

My son is 36" tall and 27 lbs. His ped. has said how he's tall for his age (2) but is on the thin side which is fine. I find it funny how tall he is when he was only 13 in long when born. Just yesterday someone ask me if he was 3 years old and I said no he's 2.

My daughter is two next week, or by her adjusted age 21 months and is just now started to grow out of some of her 12 months pants. She is 30" and 18.2 pounds. She is a little tike but very healthy. I dought that she will ever be an average size.

My son is 17 months old, adjusted 15 months and is 30 1/2 inches long and weighs 23Ibs 5 oz.
He is very narrow in the waist(wish I could say the same about myself!!)and has always been. His 12month pants are still a little big on him and I have to roll them up!

Kara is right we preemie moms still have to worry about their weight but moms of full term babies get to stop worrying once they are 3 months old!
I have a friend whose son gets half and half in with his milk to fatten his up. I am sure pedisure does the same thing for kids.
Good luck and hope you get the anwser you are looking for.

My daughter is 21 months old (by birthdate, but 19 months old by gestational age) and 29", 19lbs. Like the others have said, as long as she is growing consistently and eating well, then everything is probably fine. BTW -- she's a tall one!

My pediatrician said if I'm concerned about her calories or think she's being too fussy of an eater to get enough in her daily, try giving her Pediasure. That'll pack in some more calories. Maybe that will help?

I agree that what really matters is that she is growing and not losing weight. My girls weigh 22 1/2 lbs and are 33 1/2 inches tall at almost 2 years and almost 5 months and the pedi has never been concerned.

My 2 y/o is very small for her age...at about 1% on the curve in height and weight but just fine!

My 2 1/2 y.o. son is the exact same. He's about 35" and 25#. He's just always been small, but steady - and according to the ped - steady is what counts.

Its not the amount of weight but the pattern of growth that they watch.

Heck Alex took a dump from 75% height to 25% height and really the Ped isn't that concerned (we don't think he's grown in the last 18 months and then this month took an inch and a half leap!) as they think its more of a transient phase.
