I'm so glad to hear that Joshua is doing so well still. What an amazing little champ you've got!

People kept telling us to take DD's picture next to something to remember how tiny she was, and at first I thought it was a little weird. I felt like I was exploiting her or something, and wasn't sure that I WANTED to remember. We finally ended up taking some pictures with a dollar bill, and now I'm SO grateful that we have them! It's amazing to see how far she's come. Do be sure to check with the nurse first, as money (or most any other object you choose) isn't exactly germ-free.

Please continue to update us on Joshua, when you get a minute. And how are YOU doing??

The nurses put a dolphin beanie baby on top of Hannah and it was the exact same size as her - lol! We have the dolphin in our living room on the shelf, and every time we see it, we remember how far our dd has come.

Thanks for the update! We love to hear good news [:D]

One of the best pics I saw when my son was in the NICU was with a dollar bill. It really showed just how tiny the baby was. I wish I have more pictures from when my son was in the NICU that really showed his size.

I am glad to hear that Joshua is moving forward. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

We have pics of DS with a beanie baby mountain lion. It looks just huge in the photos, and we could carry it around as a visual aid. DS was a bit later at 34 weeks, and I didn't have my rings on -- too much swelling. [:D]

Grow Joshua, grow!

I am so glad to hear that the NEC scare was a "scare"....both my girls had NEC and I am quite the expert of you need any info. I am sure they stopped feedings. Is he on antibiotics just in case?
For pics, the easiest is just your hand. I have a great picture of my daughter's hand in my husband's hand and it is quite dramatic. But many people use their wedding ring or any ring around the baby's arm. Other things I have seen are Barbie dolls, a newborn diaper, and even a ruler.
Keep us updated on his progress and good luck!

Just updating everyone on Baby Joshua. He has hit the 2 lb mark actually 1000 grams or 2lbs 3oz!! They are trying to wean him off the vent again. He is doing quite well after a NEC scare. The Doc thought he might have it but the follow up xray looked good. I was wondering if anyone had good ideas of what to use in pictures to show his size a little better?

My son was born at 26 weeks.
He was 1 lb 10 oz at birth and now at 6 months adjusted (9 months real) he is more than 17 lbs. He was in the NICU 114 days.
He is still on oxygen! Other than that he is doing very well. Better than I ever thought.
I wish you all the strength and courage for the next months!

Hi Shelly,

I'm a mom to a former micropreemie, DD Meghan, who was born at 27 weeks weighing 1 pound, 9.5 ounces too. 725 grams to be exact. Meghan will be 2 in May, but she is still a peanut only 19 pounds.

Overall, she is doing well post NICU. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm happy to help.

Hang in there with NICU. Sometimes it can be quite draining. It sounds like your peanut is making good gains. Yay!
