matthew was born at 34 weeks and weighed 4lb 10oz. he hit 30lbs at 18 months and is now 2 years and 1 month and probably weighs around 38 lbs. he is not quite 3 feet tall, only about 34 inches tall. we were lucky enough to never experience any eating problems except for now - picky, picky, picky!

My grandson #1 is 26 months and 27 pounds, ~39 inches tall. He was born at 35 weeks at a little over 6 pounds. He's tall and skinny.

Grandson #2 is 4 weeks old and born PE free at 9 pounds. He may be 30 pounds real soon!

Connor didn't hit thirty pounds until late last summer, around mid-August, 2005. She was 4 in November and now weighs 45 pounds.

Her first year weight gain was slow, one pound for every month; she was 13 pounds on her first birthday. Once she hit that first birthday, though, she took off like a rocket!

Maggie is just over 2 and a half, and weighs 23 pounds. There was some concern for awhile, because she stopped growing completely from about 15 months until after her second birthday; she weighed 20 pounds and was 30 inches tall for 8 months straight. Now that she is growing again, our ped is not worried about it (though she is still in the "less than 5th" percentile, even for her adjusted age). She eats a lot, and likes a wide variety of healhty foods (she's SO not picky, thankfully!), so we really don't worry too much about it.

Our doctor is pretty relaxed about it too, and I really appreciate that. Even when there was some concern, he did not make a big deal out of it.

Like the others have said, every child is different, and every doctor is different with their level of concern. As long as you know she's eating, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Allan was a 28 weeker who weighed 2 lbs 6 oz. He's 29 months old now and weighs 27 pounds and is 34 inches tall. He, too, wants to "graze" all day long and really doesn't do well with set meals. He eats breakfast around 8, has lunch at 11, snack at 3 and eats dinner at 6. He will sometimes request an evening snack too.

I do make him sit at the table wtih us even if he's not eating. We offer lots of good for you snacks like string cheese, fruit, turkey (he likes it thin sliced and rolled up). He's not real good with veggies though. I just keep offering them.

He's pretty healthy other than allergies that sometimes cause his asthma to flare. I figure I've just got a string bean on my hands.

My 31 weeker is 3 1/2 now and he only weighs 28 lbs now. He eats well but from looking on a growth chart I think he is only around the 10th percentile. But his pediatrician has never expressed concern. His 20 month old sister is around 24-25 lbs which is kind of funny. But every child is different.

Interesting - Isabel was just about the same birth weight as your Caitlyn...

Isabel is now about 2 1/2 and weighs in at about 28lbs. We have not been hastled by any of the doctors or other "official" folks about her weight. Yes, she is perhaps a bit lighter/smaller than others her age, but she eats when she is hungry and is physically developing well. Perhaps we are just lucky that our doctor is more relaxed about the whole weight gain at this point... You just have to watch her tear up the house and climb to realize she isn't short on energy!

My Chloe is 2 years and 8 months and weighs 24 lbs. she eats like a ravening beast(not an overstatement either). I think that you're always in a better place if you are comfortable that your daughter is eating foods she likes and if she's enthusiastic about that. Beyond, well folks just have to have an opinion about absolutely everything don't they?

Bethanie is 5 and only weighs 33 pounds, 2 of which she has gained since starting school in August. She was almost 5 when she finally hit the 30 pound mark. She weighed 13 pounds on her first birthday, and 18 on her second. Caitlyn sounds like she is doing great to me!
