I'm chiming in late, but I would get it before TTC if you can. It wasn't out yet and so I'm not getting it at all (I'm also not working and pretty low risk for getting the flu). For me, since there is no mercury free version (even the thimersol free versions that they say are mercury free have trace amounts of mercury), I won't get the shot while I'm pregnant, but that's just me.
I'm more worried of the risks of the vax than the risk of getting the flu.
Last year was the only time I've ever gotten a flu vax (the H1N1 mist), and I've never gotten the flu before, even though I'm a teacher and spend many years working in daycare with sick kids all the time. So I'm especially not worried about the flu now that I'm not even working.

Re : Need advice re: flu shot
I believe that H1N1 will be part of the regular flu shot this year.
Re : Need advice re: flu shot
Do you need to get the H1N1 yearly, or just once? I got it last year...
but I figure I'll need to get the regular flu shot..

Re : Need advice re: flu shot
I had H1N1 at about 10 weeks this pregnancy. I've had more than enough of being very ill during pregnancy!

Ok. Thanks for the input!
Re : Need advice re: flu shot
I got both flu shots last year, the seasonal one and the H1N1 when I was 5 weeks pregnant.
Re : Need advice re: flu shot
I got the flu shot last year while pregnant. My doctors thought that it'd be more beneficial than harmful.
Need advice re: flu shot
My hubby and I want to TTC again in late November. I think I should probably get this year's flu shot at some point, because I work with kids (and am bound to catch something from them!) I also would rather probably have the shot and then know for sure if I get pg if I get sick I can rule out the flu (and know if it's HELLP or something). Here's where I need your advice-should I get the shot before TTC or after? I think it helps the baby somewhat if I have it after TTC (?) but I don't know if it's harmful either. The thing is, if by some chance we did get pg that month, we'd be due the following end of summer/early fall....and our baby would probably have to go to daycare-being around other kids. (again around germs)
I also don't know how far pg a person should be before getting it-if they do get it while pg.
Thanks for your input!
