Thanks Anne,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom… Sounds like Sydney loved her lots and was a wonderful companion.... I believe dogs (and other animals) do sense our emotions (he knew you needed him… and knew you wouldn’t mine a snuggle even if it was on the bed)… I LOVE that “spirit guide dog” That’s beautiful…

I like to think Goliath is now our guardian angel dog… I tell the girls now he’s always with them :)

Cindy--thanks for trusting us with this sad news. When my mom died my dog Sydney slept across the threshold of my bedroom door (I was away) for the full two weeks I was gone and upon my return (after she'd died) he climbed up into my bed with me. He was a 3 year old Australian sheepdog who had never ONCE tried to climb on the bed let alone furniture, but he knew I needed moral support. We call him our spirit guide dog. :) We were so sad when we lost him. Sending you a lot of hugs and healing.

Thanks Wendy and Jenn... they are our family members... they love us unconditionally...

Jenn, what a wonderful heart you have… you tried to save that sweet kitten and gave him a home when no one else would… and he wasn’t alone when he passed away… what a gift!

Someone sent me this when they heard Goliath passed away…

Remember, if dogs were the teacher we would learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be
pure ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

So true….

I’m feeling better today… I know Goliath isn’t sick anymore... that gives me comfort… and I know I’ll see him again one day :)

You ladies are so wonderful… thank you for helping me get through this very difficult time and understanding….

((hugs))

Cindy,
I once got a call from my brother's girl friend crying that she found a kitten on it's deathbed.
I took straight to the vet.
He was paralized from the neck down, but still alive and cute a button.
He spent 3 days in vet "NICU" and released to me.
I paid $400 for a stray kitten to know and feel love.

Sadly he was ill and days later was put to rest.
I cried like I had lost a child.
I loved this kitten before I met him.
And to this day I still love and think of him.

So to those whom say "It's just a ..."
Sadly do not know what it is like to use their entire heart.
Terrible loss for them.

Goliath will shine on "his" tree!
Great idea!

Love Jenn

Cindy, Please don't let anyone not allow you to validate your sadness with "it's just a dog" Those people do not understand that pets are like all of our other children. My vet calls them my furry children. I hope that the hurt gets less...it is hard :(

Thanks Jenn, Kelly, & Christina...

I know some people think "it's just a dog". But he wasn't just a dog... he was a part of our family... it's so strange not having him around... we miss him dearly. The girls are doing much better. They each got to keep one of his toys... we should be getting Goliaths ashes back this week... we'll be planting a tree in the spring for Goliath and we'll bury his ashes then...

Thanks for thinking of us :)

Oh Cindy, I'm so sorry!

I know how devastating losing a beloved doggie can be.

But like Jenn said, he couldn't have had a better mommie. He was one loved dog, I can tell.

(((hugs)))

I'm so sorry! How frustrating to be paying for vet care and getting poor care! I'm so sorry for you and your family.

Your love for Goliath is truly felt through your posts.
He couldn't have had a better "mom" and family in my eyes.

Your sorrow is shared, We too are huge animal lovers.
Many hugs to you during this difficult time.
