Let her know that persistent proteinuria after preeclampsia is unusual at 6 months postpartum, and that she likely has some underlying renal disease that her nephrologist appears to be working up. Individuals with underlying renal disease are at greater risk to develop superimposed preeclampsia. Let's see what her nephrologist learns.

My son was born at 29-3/7 weeks for the development of severe pre-eclampsia (BP up to 210/160). He was born 11/26/03 - I am still having trouble with protein in my urine and am on Labetalol with my BP usually in the 120/low 80s. I just saw a nephrologist, who did a 24 hour urine and is sending me for a sonogram. I had 2+ protein in her office and BP 120/72. I did not have any right sided pain (did have some L sided pain) while in the hospital, before or after. I am wondering if I may have had this and also, what the prognosis is...
