Hi, a BPP is (as best as I can explain and I bet someone else can or has someplace explained it a lot better!) a Biophysical Profile. It is done with ultrasound and they check for different signs of maturity and health with the baby and placenta---they check if the baby is moving well, if there is enough amniotic fluid, if the baby is making practice breathing movements, and a few other things I can't remember! They do them with me when I fail the non-stress test which I always do. When I had a badly failed BPP with my older son, that is what led straight to the emergency C-section. Hope this pregnancy is so good you don't even have to see what one is like first hand!

Re : Feeling worried tonight
May I please ask what a BPP is? I've gathered from all the talk of it that it's a test to check on baby but would just like to know what BPP stands for. Sounds like baby girl is doing good, that's great to hear! Hope you don't have to wait to long to find out why the doctor's office had called you, did you maybe leave something at there office? Hope and pray it's something non baby related that they called for.

Thanks so much for all your good thoughts---they seem to have worked! The BPP was good! I don't know the score, but there was plenty of fluid, pretty good movement (not terrific), practice breathing, all that! I was SO RELIEVED and happy. They estimated weight at 5 1/2 pounds, good for 35 weeks! They even did one of those 3-D style pictures of the face at one point, which was very neat to see.
Of course my worrying isn't over!! Is it ever over with kids? Last night I was on the phone and got a call with call waiting---I figured it was my brother in law who calls a million times a day and didn't look at the number. When I was done talking I looked and it was my drs. office. I tried to call them but they were closed. My husband called the night line (as he was tired of me obsessing over it!) and they said they have a list of people who are trying to be reached due to some emergency condition and I wasn't on it, but of course I keep wondering why they called! I hate this worry. I just want my baby girl born and healthy!! But of course not born early unless it's necessary!
Thanks so much for all your support---it means more than you know!!

Suzanne....
I notice different doctors get different measurements. Also, when you drop you some how lose a few cm.
I tend to read into everything a lot more than I should!... If I could only learn to relax I think I could breeze thru the next few weeks...
hang in there and let us know how you make out with your BPP.....

Feeling worried tonight
I am really feeling anxious tonight! I had my weekly appt. today, I will be 35 weeks tomorrow. My BP was higher than it had been in a while at a drs. appt (120/88) although not terrible. My NST was once again non-responsive (no decels but no accels either). I had had a few contractions, so they checked me and I was (I think they said) fully effaced but not at all dialeted. No protein. The thing that got me worrying tonight was that when they measured my stomach, it had gone down from being 45cm to being 37cm. They said maybe the baby had dropped, but all of a sudden I was thinking tonight that it might be a lack of fluid. You know how those thoughts hit you at night! Lack of fluid scares me so much, as that is what happened with my older son. I have an appt. for a BPP tomorrow at 1:30pm. I have mananged to not get scared much this time around, but somehow the old anxiety is bad tonight! My BP is still running in the mid-80s lower # tonight. I hope all is fine. Thanks for listening---I know you all have been there!
