Transverse Myelitis is a autoimmune disease caused by a virus/infection usually respiratory. Which is how it happened with me. It causes a segmentation of the spinal cord (mines at T-12) and all the nerves below the segmentation are affected. Because mine is rather high, I may or may not even be able to feel labor when it comes on....Right now my body is registering fetal movement as contractions.... its weird....I don't even know what Autonomic Disreflexia and Transverse Myelitis are- are either autoimmune conditions by any chance? In any case, they sound very much not fun.
Autonomic Disreflexia is a neurological condition that is sparked by damaged pain receptors in the damaged nerves. The response sends the persons bloodpressure to a dangerous point and can cause cardiac arrest. Since its neurological the typical cardiac meds dont work.
I have been told by JH hospital and my docs that the only safe way for delivery is vag. with immediate epidural,
So adding PE to my long list of TM, DM, Epilepsy and hx of pe... I'm a big mess...
