I know! I cannot believe that there is a kid, in my own stomach, that is at least as big as my son at birth. I keep having those images of him in my mind, and when she kicks me, I know how big that little foot is! Shopping for girl clothes is lots of fun too... :D

YAY! 24 weeks is amazing and I cannot believe how well your little girl is growing and I am so excited that everything is going well. My doctor used to give me that same "this is a different pregnancy" speech whenever I seemed super worried about everything... it's so true, but we can't help but worry based on our past experiences. Keep going and growing, mama!

24 weeks

Postby danielsmom » Tue Feb 21, 2012 06:25 pm

I had my 24 week appointment today, and it appears all is still going well. The baby's growth has leveled out some though... she was in the 82nd percentile 3 weeks ago, and now's she's 52%. My doctor told me he's not at all concerned about that fall... even though it's 30 points. So I'm *trying* not to be either. Maybe she had just had a growth spurt last time? Oh well. But yay for no growth restriction! And they estimate she's 1 lb 6 oz... about 5 oz bigger than my son at birth. I'm 24 weeks... that just blows my mind. I'm bigger now than I ever was with him, and people actually recognize me for being a pregnant woman. It is so different.

I had a low transverse C section (suprisingly to me), so my MFM told me last time I *could* have a VBAC in the future. But recently I've been thinking/researching, and because my uterus was so small at the time (tiny baby and low fluid), I'm not comfortable with the risk of rupture. My husband, who rarely gives his opinion on anything and without knowing how I felt, spoke up and said that he would MUCH PREFER a C section that is safe and planned. That did it for me, he's been through enough. Then today my OB mentioned that he doesn't even want me to go into labor and would like to do a C section. So it's settled for team C section, and I'm happy and comfortable with that decision.

I asked my doctor if he needed to run a baseline protein check on me, and he answered that he's been dipping my urine since 4 weeks and I have no protein. :) He keeps reminding me that this is a different pregnancy (not that he isn't monitoring close) and he wants me to relax. I think he's more worried about me emotionally than this kid! During the ultrasound he's like "how's your head", "how are you feeling?", "are you worried?", "is daddy worried?" LOL... oh well, I can appreciate that.

Just hoping and praying we keep going for many more weeks. I picked up paint on the way home for the nursery. So, hey, I'm coming around!
