Thanks everyone! I guess I was speaking too soon. Tuesday night I suddenly started feeling horrible out of the blue while laying on the couch and watching TV, I had taken my BP earlier and it was 139/89 so I wasn't initially alarmed. I decided to take it again: 165/108 and as I started to rapidly feel worse it rose to 192/119. We decided to call an ambulance as my husband had to stay with the kids. In the ER it was 208/110 so they immediately put in an IV and gave me potent meds to lower it. It went down a little, but shot back up, so my OB decided to readmit me. They said I will most likely need magnesium again, but thankfully another shot of the meds and a strong painkiller helped keep them barely controlled at 160/95.

They took all day yesterday to play around with my labetolol dosage and decided to go back up to 500 mg three times a dau. Ugh. Thankfully I am okay for now.

It's pretty scary and I will be glad when I am out of the woods. Baby Luna is imrpoving but still needs help breathing. We're hoping she will be discharged some time next week.

Congratulations on the birth of Luna. I hope she gets to leave the NICU very soon. Also, glad to hear that you are bouncing back quickly. Take care of yourself and your new babe!

Congratulations and welcome to your little Luna!

Continuing mag for 24 hours after birth is pretty standard and is lifesaving, but I know I hated every second of it anyway. My firstborn was also one of the few who needed NICU help after birth even at 37 weeks, so I know it's discouraging when about 99% of near-term babies around here sail through. I hope Luna's lungs get stronger and she's out of the NICU very soon!

I'm glad your bp came down so quickly, but please do watch your bp and signs and symptoms for the next 6 weeks just in case post-partum PE strikes. Hang in there and let us know how things are going with you and Luna!

Hi everyone,

I posted over the last 9 weeks on and off. My daughter Luna was born on 11/17 at 35 w 3 days because I developed severe preeclampsia. I was on 1500 mg of Labetalol in the end, but my BP didn't come down anymore. I was induced and gave birth 12 hours later. My daughter weighted a nice 6 lbs 1 oz, but she needed help breathing and is still in the NICU. Hopefully she can come home soon. My BP went down immediately after giving birth, which is great! I had to stay on Magnesium for 24 hours after I gave birth. Yuck.

Good luck to everyone! I am so grateful that we made it this far after 9 weeks of bedrest. Preeclampsia just sucks.
