Congratulations and welcome Emily Elizabeth!! I'm sorry to hear her birth was even scarier than necessary due to a nursing issue, but glad that the hospital is taking steps so it won't happen to someone else. I'm just glad that you and your baby girl are okay! I am amazed that you are home so soon - I hope you are able to get a little rest now.

Please keep watching for PE signs and symptoms for up to 6 weeks post-partum, but I hope the drama is over!

congratulations! Sounds like everything went well, and what a strong little girl you have, less than 10 days in the NICU is amazing! :) I had a similar thing happen when I got my epidural with my daughter, my BP dropped from 160/110 to 100/50 and I was miserable!

So happy to hear the happy ending! :)

Our first son was born and passed in Feb of 2010. Born at 29 weeks due to HELLP and passed due to NEC. We miss him every day. :~(

Our second son was born at 39 weeks gestation in Nov of 2011. No HELLP or pre-e! Took LDA starting at week 12 and went off of it at week 38!

I admire the way you took all that craziness in stride. Oh man, your poor husband must have been terrified!! So happy everyone is well and your baby girl was discharged so soon. Enjoy her!

Emily Elizabeth has arrived!

Postby mom29 » Sat Feb 10, 639263 10:11 pm

October 19th at 5:03 p.m.
3 lbs. 15 oz
17.50 inches
33 weeks gestation

Admitted for the third time on the 18th after I woke up from a very restful nap and my bp was 181/109. Mfm said on the phone it was probably time to cash in our chips. When we arrived at triage he said they would take the next 24 to 48 hours to determine if I had pre-eclampsia in which case they would deliver. If I didn't have it they would see if they could get my bp down with more meds. and bed rest at home or in the hospital. In the morning the mfm came in and said "It's baby day today" and explained the check they did on the 24 protein test in progress came up at 500.

My blood pressure crashed shortly after getting the epidural. My dh had to wait in the waiting room during the epi. and waited half an hour (way longer than usual). My friend arrived and when she stepped into the room it was filled with people. She found my dh in the waiting room and told him there was a lot of activity in the room. He walked into the room just in time to hear "the baby recovered" and asked if anyone wanted to tell him what just happened. I don't remember much about it except saying I didn't feel good and waking up to hear my unhappy mfm telling the nurse I was running 160's to 180's/100+ and what I dropped to was way too low. Apparently the nurse from hades hadn't bothered to tell the nurse who filled in for her that I had cht and pre-eclampsia. The mfm, residents, student nurses, and other nurses were absolutely wonderful and made up for the awful nurse from hades. The postpartum nurse told us we needed to talk to an ombudsman and the clinical manager from L&D about our experience . I talked to the cm and he was visibly angry as he listened to what I had to say, said I confirmed his gut instincts about that nurse and he had proof for her next evaluation.

I was originally told Emily would probably have to stay until close to her due date. She was due on December 2nd and came home today. I am so very happy to have her home. I've been getting to bed close to midnight and getting up at 7 am to go to the hospital to spend the days with her. I seriously need to sleep in! It is so nice having her right here next to my bed in her bassinet.

It's hard to believe the pregnancy is over, but I got the beautiful healthy baby girl I wanted and I couldn't be happier!
