Cate and Kirsten were 5ishlbs. Both wore preemie diapers for several weeks. Especially Cate. She had the scrawniest butt I had ever seen!

I bought one special little brother outfit and washed the rest of our one year old little mans preemie clothes.

My NICU gave me a couple of packets of preemie diapers when my son came home. They lasted us for a while. I'm not buying any this round. If I have a preemie, chances are s/he won't come home with me immediately so I'll have time - and if I do get to bring a baby home from the hospital with me - then my husband can run out and get them. I don't want to jinx myself by buying stuff early and don't want to buy stuff I hope to never use.

If you do buy preemie diapers - pampers preemie size is smaller than huggies preemie.

Really little preemies have especially small ones in the NICU but I didn't really notice much different size wise of store bought preemie diapers & newborn ones. My 3rd was 5 lbs even when she came home & wore newborn just fine. I think Wal-mart has preemie dipes - and lots of cute preemie sized clothes actually. Even though she was 5 lbs she was short at 17.5 inches & wore preemie clothes until after Valentine's day (born Dec. 27).

Wow, you just reminded me that I need to add diapers and formula to my list of things to buy. My daughter fit nicely in newborn diapers last time so I will go with those initially since the hospital gave us a couple last time to get us home. How small does the baby have to be for preemie sized diapers? And what stores carry them?

I bought a preemie outfit and washed the other preemie stuff I had. I also had DH pick up some preemie diapers over the weekend. Last time I didn't have any preemie things at first and my sister had to run out and get them for me. For some reason it made me feel better to have them this time.

I still have some unisex preemie clothes that Zoe used. I've just been thinking of washing them in some dreft and packing a hospital bag, since I'm 29 weeks and had Zoe at 30- even though I'm not sick (yet) this time around.

I finally just bought some boy newborn clothes for my son this weekend. Have not had the courage to buy preemie stuff yet. Hoping I make it long enough that he doesn't need them. But I understand how you are feeling. I could not even bring myself to buy anything before this and I am now at 25 weeks. Here's to hoping you don't need those though.

I had originally only bought a couple of newborn outfits since my guy was measuring pretty big. But his growth seems to be slowing and I'm getting sick. Earlier and worse than last time. I'm concerned I'm not going to make full term. I've somehow had 34/35w stuck in my head for weeks. My daughter was born at 37w and in between preemie and newborn. I previously couldn't imagine my boy being born that small, but I'm now coming to terms that I might go even earlier than I thought. So I bought 2 preemie outfits. They are just soooooo tiny!
