oh me! kinda funny though.

Is he a good doctor. I have been watching discovery channel in the wee hours (3 am for example) while up with baby. I heard a quote this morning....one of the doctors was talking about bedside manners..."I don't care of my surgeon (or other dr) is a sob as long as he's good." Maybe that helps? I wouldn't want a mean ob but a cardio doctor...well hey if they know their stuff...i'm all in.

Seriously Suzanne- only we pregnant PE ladies go through such indignities so to speak.... it made me laugh too. "oh God" pretty much sums it up for us on a daily basis but you know its bad when a doctor openly freaks out! I remember my nephrologist weirded me out when I first met her becauase she looked into my eyes and then told me "Oh the beauty of youth, oh look at your gorgeous eyes"- and went on to say it'd been a while since she'd seen since young eyes. OOOOKAAAAY.

In any case she went on to become my favorite doctor and she's taken good care of me... as far as the old people in the waiting room- I've grown to love that too... last time I was there I had Sam Jam, and I met this older gentleman who was Russian but grew up in France and was telling me all kinds of interesting stories... he spoke French Russian and English perfectly.... and loved on Sam Jam. They always want to know why I'm with all of them... lol...

Hang in there. Weird drs at least make good stories just like bad dates....

I can relate to how weird it feels to be in a waiting room full of much older people. Hopefully this was just a one time consult with the cardiologist. If you have to see him regularly, I'd definately ask to see a different cardiologist. I'm sure you don't want to spend the rest of your pregnancy entertaining us.

I second Shannon! The old timers he has in there prob are hard of hearing and just as crass, as well. I guess it pays to have something to laugh about here and there. Hopefully you can find another cardio guy or gal, preferably one that does not feel the need to express his concerns to God every thirty seconds. :)

Most of his patients are probably hard of hearing so he didn't even realize he was saying anything that some may find worrisome or even offensive. I hope everything turns out okay!

Sometimes I think that specialists that don't see pregnant ladies often (such as nephrologists - at least mine!) really do freak out - they freak out because they just aren't use to us. That said, maybe it would be possible to for your cardiologist to call your MFM and have them discuss your case and come up with a combined plan of care?

Bad bedside manner is uck! - as long as he's the best, for me, I could deal with it.
Have fun in Boston!

Okay - I am glad that someone else admitted to laughing while reading your post - I could just imagine you doctor. It seems that the more specialized a doctor gets the odder they can get.

You are now making your doctors work hard for their money - nothing wrong with that.

I hope that you have a nice trip to Boston.

Take care.

Thanks, ladies :)

Yes, it was like a comedy skit, which is the story of my life. I was laughing as I was telling my parents and husband about it. He is a weirdo. I think I threw him off since he is used to seeing old people all day. If I have to continue to see a cardiologist, I think I will ask to see someone else :)

<<Hugs>> I know it must have been frustrating for you, but I have to say, I'm laughing as I read this. It sounds like some sort of comedy skit. What a weirdo! Anyway you can fast tomorrow and get the bloodwork done?

I hope you like the MFM better, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you heart U/S.
