Oh Sabrina! That's just awful! I can't believe they made you jump through hoops like that. My BP would have been through the roof! I hope you can keep something down tonight. Feel better!

Just wanted to add that when I had PTL at 26 weeks and was told to be on mild bedrest for a week and to not clean I 1. went nuts and 2. HATED having DH do it!
I started feeling better and am now able to clean but I take it slow. It is hard lettting DH do it when you have been doing it all these years and you have system and when they don't do it your way it makes your skin crawl, at least that's me:P
It is sweet that Kirsten understands how much you do, that's great!:)

I didn't end up going in. It ended up to be this huge miscommunication brooha thing and I was left being so upset. So she calls me back and says that my ob is jam packed because the midwives are gone but they could see me at the end of the day if I really needed to come in. She tells me that my ob said zofran was constrained in pregnancy. WHATEVER. I was on 40 pills a month from the same office with Sara. So I know that is not true. It's a FDA class B med. That the ONLY thing I could have was reglan. He didn't know what else to do for me (I think part of this is a line of crap from nursing because I know they can give something besides Reglan). I said so I can't keep anything down not even water. What makes you think I can keep THAT down. All I want is a zofran rx and a urine culture. How hard is that. I don't have to come in, but I DO have to stop throwing up. Throwing up constantly means I can't drink water for kidneys and for contractions. So she goes and says what about suppositories. Ok I'll try that. She takes my pharmacy information. Says she'll talk to him and call it in. I go to the lab. No lab order. The nice receptionist called the office and talked with the nurse I had. The nurse had faxed it to the wrong number! Apparently she was not happy that we called. Get the paperwork and urine cup. Go to the bathroom. Puke again. Finish turn everything in and go to the pharmacy.

Only to have the pharmacy have no RX! WTH. At this point I am ready to lose it. I said look I have been throwing up since early this morning, I can't keep anything down. So the clerk said I'll call the office right now. They sat me down next to the door to the pharmacy part and told me to tell them asap if I felt like I was going to puke again. I think they were really afraid I was going to puke on them. They get the same nurse I had. She tells them that I had decided against the meds. WHAT? Is she on freaking crack? I refused reglan because it was not working. I never refused ANYTHING ELSE that was offered. The pharmacy told her that. So then this nurse had to go and ask my dr what to prescribe AGAIN. I thought it was going to be reglan suppositories (do they even come that way?). She calls back and calls in comapazine suppositories. The pharmacy had it filled asap. I asked the pharmacist about the zofran. He said that the other doctor prescribes it all the time for pregnancy. He said nothing had changed in the last three years that he knew of. He was curious as to why I was not prescribed that as I have had it in my drug record before. 40 pills times 6 mos with Sara. He said they could have prescribed the ODT one which would have dissolved under the tongue. The pharmacist said that it would have been cheaper to fill the generic zofran instead of compazine.

So I plan to ask when I go in because am very upset about it. Also the little handout drug sheet they give you at the beginning of pregnancy says that if you have nausea or vomiting to call the office because they have medications (notice plural) they can give you. I am bringing that with me too. I shouldn't have had to jump through hoops to get an antinausea med and a urine sample. I don't know if it was nursing staff making assumptions or if they actually talked to him. I had this issue with the progesterone at the beginning of pregnancy. Turned out nursing had never discussed it with him but told me they had.

I am going to ask my peri to check the cervix via US tomorrow. I just hope everything is ok. The compazene finally worked and I havn't thown up in a while. I am going to attempt trying to eat some soup. I was able to keep down so sips of pepsi. I am going to have dh go and get some gatorade tonight so I can replace my electrolytes.

Holly I havn't been checked yet. That was why I was a bit worried. I put a call into my ob's office earlier. I told them I had taken reglan and tagament. The nurse called me back and said he prescribed reglan. I said I already am taking that, it is NOT working. So then she asked me if I felt like I needed to come in. Probably, but can't we just call in some zofan and do a urine culture? So she asked me to take the reglan again to see if it helped. It is not helping! So then I told her just make me an appt to come in today to be checked out. She said she would talk to him again. Waiting for her to call back. That was 15 mins ago. I am trying hard to keep the sip of pepsi down that I took with my bp med.

Wow, you're having such a hard time of it. I had times where I went to L&D for contractions and they stopped (always felt silly), but also had times where I went for other reasons and then proceeded to get treated for contractions. Keep up what you're doing - keep your bladder empty. I found that mine were worse when I way laying down, so taking a walk would sometimes stop them (although on bedrest, you probably can't do that like I did). I never had any nausea or vomiting related to the contractions, but I understand it can be a sign of early labor. In your shoes, I would put a call into the doc.

You also mentioned that you worry about having BH that actually deliver the baby...I've actually never heard of that since a dilated cervix would be required to deliver a baby and if you have BH and dilation, you're in labor. Have you been checked and gotten confirmation that you are not dilated or shortening? I had regular ultrasounds for cervical length through 34 weeks. There is also a test called fetal fibronectin which you might want to ask your OB about too.

I wish you luck and for things to calm down a little for you! Hope you call...I'll keep my eyes out for an update.

Well I ended up in L&D last night. I had BH starting at 5 that were totally irregular till 8 pm. At 8 pm they became every 4-5 minutes and lasted one minute. It felt like the whole uterus tightening up and pushing downward. I had to breathe through them. Dh wanted to call an ambulance and I told him no way that that was for dying people. 3 times he asked. Finally he got upset and used his cell phone to call the hospital and have my ob paged at 930pm. In the meantime I had downed 3 big bottles of water. I had one on the phone when I was talking on the phone with my ob. I was like I need to get these checked. They had started spacing out by then at 930. he told me to go to L&D and he would call them. L&D had NONE of my prenatal records, but he remembered I was due in February when he called them. They escort you upstairs to L&D when you go to that floor. The poor receptionist who was still in training, I freaked her out. I had one on the elevator because I had to stop and breathe. She wanted to get a wheelchair for me. I told her I would walk. I know I know. Get up to the floor and that was the last bad one I had. I had a really small one when she put the monitor on that did not register and then nothing for 30 minutes. Then when she came to do the monitor, it went from 17-27 and that's when she took the monitor off. Before it stayed between 17-20. I felt bad and insisted that they just monitor the contractions when they told me my ob had to come in and do a labor check. Seeing none showed up on the monitor by that point, I didn't want him to have to drive all the way in and then go home. They said that if they had shown up on the monitor, I would have been shipped out to Childrens. So it is goood they stopped. They changed it from a labor check to a NST. By doing that, he didn't have to come in. I feel like the girl that cried wolf now. Dh has now had the pants offically scared off of him. He was totally freaking out. He totally panicked. I thought um we do have 2 other children you know. He said yeah but this is a new area. You didn't have this before. They called my ob and told him I had leukocytes in my urine. So I may or may not have an infection starting. No nitrates. No protein. My right kidney is killing me now so who knows. She said that could have started everything. I plan on getting me some zofran Tuesday when I go in. I have been nauseated all week and reglan ain't cutting it. I plan on asking when can I have a hysterectomy when I go in. Right now I am thinking at delivery would be nice. :) The nurse I had was fascinated by my history. She kept asking me all these questions about the girls and pe and pih. I plan on asking my ob just how many high bp patients do they get up there. She asked a LOT of questions about that and that the girls were delivered by emergency induction.

One of the questions I do have for him pertains to how fast my labors are (7 hours and 3 hours for the girls and they were inductions at 35 and 36 weeks). My worry is that I say ok these are still BH and out pops a baby!!! It has been known to happen.

So I think after tonight dh will be happily picking up more. He hasn't complained yet. Oh and I've been peeing constantly since drinking so much water. I had some that started up at 2 am again that were irregular, but stopped at 2:45.

A girlfriend of mine is a week ahead of me. She went to L&D last night too. Same thing happened to her. As soon as she got on the monitor, they stopped. The nurse checked her and she was slightly dialated. They told her today she had a tiny bit of funneling. She had a leep surgery on her cervix so they check her every 2 weeks by US. She goes to the big childrens hospital down the road so I guess they have different protocols than my small rural one.

I also found out last night and felt bad that my ob is the only one in the office except the NP. The midwives are at a conference.

I still have my old fear rearing its ugly head that my ob is going to call it quits and ship me off to the local children's hospital if I am too much of a pia. I don't think he would do that unless I had to deliver. It still drives me nuts that the old demons from when I was dumped by my ob with Kirsten rear their ugly head. Probably doesn't make much sense to most people. I am just terrified of being passed from one doc to the next and no one telling me anything.

Edited: I am now puking at 545am on reglan and tagament. Can this be related to the contractions last night and this morning?

I'm sure he is really appreciating you all the more now that you aren't able to do as much. When I was on bedrest dh told me he didn't know how I did it every day. And by that time it was just my 2 yo son here because I had to give up keeping my 2 yo nephew during the weekdays. He vowed to help more around the house and cook a few times a week after our dd was born. That never happened! He does help me cook if we're grilling, but if I need a night off from cooking we order out!

Its so hard to let go. Especially when you see things aren't being done as well as you would like. I remember dh took the laundry out of the dryer and just piled them on the living room chair and I just stared at them for a day or two until I could take it no longer. I got up to fold them and I had a dizzy spell combined with a shooting pain in my head and my eye went bloodshot. I decided I wouldn't try that again and just resigned myself to living with messes. Its only for a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things. Its good for him to see how hard you really work. You are working hard at keeping you and your baby as healthy as possible. You are doing the right thing. I think as women we are such caretakers ourselves that its hard to let go of that. Try not to feel guilty.

You're not terrible! You're a great mom! You do what moms do...tons of stuff no one notices unless its not getting done! LOL!

I think it's great for your DH to be reminded of just how much you do to keep your family healthy, happy and running smoothly!

Now the REALLY hard part (and I'm in the same boat you are...) we have to let go....just a little...and just for a little while...
