My blood pressure got lower when I got pregnant, but I haven't had any further dip in the 2nd trimester so far (I am 19 weeks). I see alternate seeing either my OB or MFM every 2 weeks. When I see the MFM every 4 weeks, I get an u/s. As I get closer to 28 weeks, I will probably be seen more frequently. I hope this helps. Have you had a doppler u/s of your uterine arteries yet? Mine showed severe bilateral notching, but my understanding is that if there is no notching that pe is unlikely to recur.

Chronic here too. My bp took a long time to get to a good place so I had some high bps at 18 weeks too. I did have the dip though and my bp didn't go back up until 32 weeks. I was able to hold off having him until 35 weeks. Hope the bp drops for you too!

I saw my Peri at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 24 weeks, 28 weeks and my next appt. is at 33 weeks then after that every week. I would want to be seeing a MFM if I were you and I don't think you are being to picky about it, it's your health and your baby's and you want/need the best care! I would ask to be transfered if I were you.

I didn't have a dip with Sara and had severe pih. This time I have had the dip, but am predicted to get pe again based on the doppler US. This time I started with my ob right away with modified work and meds. He sent me to the peri at 12 weeks. I think for now I see my ob more.

And in answer to your second question - I started seeing my Peri when I didn't get that second trimester dip, but I also was not as severe as you during my first pregnancy, so I think that in your shoes I too would want to see a MFM sooner than later.

I believe that it is more of an indicator of cronic hypertension. I didn't have a dip in my second pregnancy - it even went up a bit when it should have dipped - I got put on meds, but didn't go on to develop pre-e - but was very carefully managed.

Best wishes to you.

Another question--when considered high risk, who do you ladies see the most? I have yet to see an MFM and have just seen the OBGYN practice, which I see a different doctor or midwife (!!) everytime. Honestly, I am not very happy at all and I want to transfer...but I don't know if I am being overly hen pecking or these are true concerns?

Oh Molly I am so sorry your BP is acting up! For me, in the 2nd trimester I didn't have a dip like they say you are suppose to get but now being in the 3rd trimester I am, they are in the 120's/70's. You go to the dr. on the 21st right? I would see what they say but if they tend to get worse I would make a call.

Praying your BP behaves itself!
