You know, it is crazy when you have all these emotions going through your head. I remember making it past 24 weeks and started thinking, wow, I just might be able to make it this time. At that time, things were looking great with the baby, she was big and growing strong. Being pregnant after loosing a baby is so difficult.

January 1st is a bad day for us as well. Congrats on making it so far and growing a healthy baby. Keep up the good job!!!!

Congrats on making it to 28 weeks!!! I think that it is absolutely wonderful that your doctor gave you the steroids. It is so reassuring when you see doctors being proactive that you are getting great care.

Congratulations on 28weeks!!

As far as the steroid shots..it's good to know that they are on board if you need it, I hope you won't. The first two pregnancies I got them fairly early but this last one it was a little later but it always made me feel better to know that I had them.

My doc gave me steriods as well around the 28 wk mark. My BP had just began creeping a little - and with my history he just wanted to be safe. Turns out, it was helpful. I think I had two round of steriod shots (3-4 shots) before Jonathan was born at 34 wks.

I know its so hard to not worry....

It sounds like your doc is being very proactive. Hopefully you'll deliver late enough that you won't have even needed the shots. But like the others said, what a reassurance knowing that the extra help is already there if you end up delivering early.

Congrats on reaching 28 weeks!

YAY! I'm glad to hear you've hit the magic week 28!! Steroid shots are only given up until 32 weeks. I believe it is because of the developmental stage babies lungs are at during this time frame. The steroids give them a boost in case baby has to be born early...before those little lungs are supposed to be functioning. And with your history it is definitely a good reason to get them, whether you have PE complications or not. It's better to have them and not need them, then to have an early emergency delivery without them. Steroid shots are most useful when they can be given at least 24 hours apart. And we all know that PE can go from nothing to life threatening in a matter of hours. I'm glad you got them as a precaution. I do hope you can cook that little baby for another 10-12 weeks though! We'll be thinkig about you!
