poem

Postby kimb » Tue Feb 28, 2006 00:18 am

this poem was in a recent flyer from the support group we went to - it really says a lot of what I have felt about people avoiding the subject of the loss of my son. We had a bday party for my hubby a couple of weeks ago and I had posted it on my fridge. Then last weekend one of my friends started askimg more questions and said that she hope that she could since she read the poem on the fridge - that meant a lot to me and I thought I would share it with all of you

Remerbering
by Elizabeth Dent

Go ahead and mention my child,
The one that died you know.
Don't worry about hurting me further
The depth of my paid doesn't show
Don't worry about making me cry
I'm already crying inside
Help me to heal by releasing
The tears that I try to hide
I'm hurt when you just keep silent
Pretending he didn't exist
I'd rather you mentioned my child
Knowing that he has been missed.
You asked me how I was doing
I say "pretty good" or "fine"
But healing is something ongoing
I feel it will take a lifetime
