I agree with Trish's suggestion that you try not to worry about a mildly elevated baseline.

Congrats Laura!! I'm so happy for you. It is my understanding that having a slightly higher baseline means it's possible you have some slight underlying kidney damage that hasn't resolved yet from prior PE. But, like the previous poster said, that doesn't mean you have more of a chance of getting PE again. It just means that your baseline is kind of like your new zero. That if you get to 300 they won't be as concerned as if you had a lower baseline to start.

Telling you not to worry would be pointless so just *try* not to!

Thank you! Any reason as to why it would be higher? Could it be a fluke? I was drinking a lot of soda (as water made me more nauseous).

I am confused as to why I started my sons pregnancy in normal range but am so high this time? Should I ask for a recheck. She didnt not to a creatine clearance (I think that is what it is called) is that more accurate?

At 8 weeks, your 24 hour is a baseline, so it reflects your kidneys' state pre-pregnancy. It doesn't mean you're on the road to preeclampsia (you're only just developing a placenta now), but often, women who have had it in the past have higher than normal protein due to long term effects of the disease. That's why the baseline is done, so they can compare later results--say you get a result of 220 at 32 weeks. Now, if you had had a result of 40 at your baseline, that would be more concerning than if you had a baseline of 210.

Hi everyone I am back! I am currently 8 weeks pregnant! This pregnancy started off with a bang with a blood clot in my uterus. It was measuring under two inches. Anyway I just got my results from my 24 hour urine it was 152. With Carter it was 62. Should I be worried? Of course I cant help but see this as a precursor.
