I received Mag several hours after my emergency C-section. My BP was normal for a while because of the epidural anesthesia. Then hours after delivery, I told the nurse that I was feeling dizzy, like I was drunk, and I was seeing double. She checked my BP, it was 190/115. That's when they gave me Mag

I was on a lower dose of it for a week, then off it when I was discharged, and then on it for another week, then full dose when I delivered and for 24 hours after that. I had severe headaches and visual disturbances, and BPs of 160s/90s, up to 190s/110s when I finally delivered, on meds and hospital bedrest. My baby did have mag. sulfate toxicity for a few days.

With my first, I was on the full dose for 2 days before delivery, then another 4 afterwards because my BP wouldn't come down. When I was first admitted, my BP was 170/100, and it went up to 200/110 after delivery.

On admission, because I was seriously hyperreflexic, for 5 days. Delivery was about 51 hours after admission, so for two days before delivery and three days after.

Starting when I was 10 cenimeters and for a total of about 25 hours. I didn't really feel like it effected me much. Maybe a little more tired is all.

It was started when my BP spiked (200/110) and HELLP showed up in my labs. I continued on it throughout induction, delivery and for 48 hours afterwards - so a total of 5 days. I was off for 12 hours of that time due to becoming toxic with a Mag level above 11. It was no fun, it felt like my head was on fire and I was so weak I could barely turn myself over in bed.

From the time I was diagnosed as severe pre-e ( a few hours after being admitted ) until 24 hours after delivery.... so about 4 days. Wow, that is a long time compared to some of you above! I guess mine was that long because they had time to do a slow induction, and then I had to stay on it for a while after delivery.

On the day I was admitted to the hospital (same day baby ended up being delivered) and stayed on it for 24 more hours until I refused to be on it any longer.

Not at all with my first delivery, and 30ish hours post delivery for 24 hours due to severely increased hyperreflexia.

They started me on after the delivery of my son and was on it for about 24hours. I think maybe less because i BEGGED them to take me off of it or lower the dose. it is BRUTAL. that stuff is the devil.
