Yes I do have a UTI at this time and had it ignored by my doc for a week, actually the nurse, but am now on meds for the infection. Am going in today, due to too many BH so they can get a measure of my cervix and check me again.thanks again.

Elizabeth,
those are some small babies and dont know how id react to having one that early, but I guess you deal with the cards that are dealt to you. A couple of friends had babies at 34-35 wks and their babies are fine, so i hope she can put off that long. That is the drs goal too. Wish me luck at the docs and will give an update in a couple of hours.

Sandra, there is a pretty big difference between a baby at 29/30 weeks and one at 35. My sister had her first at 29 weeks 6 days. he spent 6 weeks in the NICU and wenth through blood transfusions, eye exmas, all kinds of stuff and when sent home was on O2 for about 2 months and an apnea monitor for 3. Now the chances of survival at 29/30 is very good but you have to go through the NICU experience and some scarey difficult times.
I had my first at 35.5 weeks due to PE. He hadno problems, needed no O2 or intervention at all. He roomed in with me from the first night and I took him home right on time. Now some 35 weekers do need a little oxygen and/or a few days inthe NICU but its much less of an ordeal than a 29/30 weeker. Good luck! Hopefully yours will stay put for a lot longer!!!

rebecca
I know that this is getting ahead of myself but was wondering what it was like to have a baby at 29 and 31 wks, even 35. My doc said that Id be lucky to make it to 35. Just curious on what to expect, I know everyone is different but want to know what things to look forward too. thanks and hope Im not being too nosy. Also am putting acall in to the doc in an hr if cant get my BH to stop after drinking water.

I was told if I had more than 6 braxton hicks in an hour that I should get checked just in case. I have an irritable uterus and with my first baby was dilated to a 2 at 30 weeks then stopped. It's always better safe than sorry, especially if you are having back pain with it.

Any way to know?

Postby samarasmom » Sat Jun 05, 2004 04:56 pm

I know alot of moms on this board have had early labor or had to have babies early, so I was wondering if there is any signs that your cervix is dilating any further. I am already dilated to 1+ and am 50% effaced as of yesterday. I am having a lot of braxton hicks and lower back pain that is dull but in further. I dont have the BH until I feel the back pain ease some, like it moves to the front. Alot of pressure in vaginal area with BH. Not sure if should bother going to get checked since my BH dont show on the machine. Any thing would be appreciated.
