I have a really fast heartrate but only when pregnant. It got up to 140 in the hospital and they kept me another 2 days trying to figure out why it was so high. Don't trust the machines. They would take my blood pressure and it would show a heartrate of 130 but then when checked reguarly, it was more like 90. Sometimes if your blood pressure is high it gives a wrong reading for your heartrate. I would just check against it to make sure it's giving the right reading.

I plan on it, I have an appt. on Friday but my NP wanted a u/s of my cervix early next wk so was thinking of calling to reschedule my doc appt around my u/s since I have a lot of questions and have seen an increase in my pulse. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it

This is something that some doctors take seriously and some do not. I went and saw Dr. Easterling at the University of Washington and was diagnosed with "high cardiac output" - my pulse was around 100. I was put on 100 mg of Atenolol a day and it brought it down to the 80's and my bp stayed great through my entire pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about your concerns!!

That's why I was put on Labatelol. I had racing pulse mainly when I stood. Never from doing anything exhausting. 157 is the highest that I recorded. My OB wasn't going to do anything about it, said it was normal also. I know it's a symptom of pe even though my OB told me it wasn't. I had it post-partem with my daughter, I don't remember having it while I was pregnant. It really sucks b/c you can feel it happening, like you're running out of breath or something.
I would tell your OB about it, and how it concerns you. Hopefully they will listen to you.

I have had the same rapid pulse every since I became pregnant...I know others have more experience though. I know its not normal though. It seems like some doctors treat it and some dont worry about it though.

rapid heart rate

Postby samarasmom » Sat Jun 05, 2004 09:46 am

I have been taking my BP 3 times daily for the past 3 days and have had good results but my pulse is high, Is this a cause for concern. Here are my readings, going from recent to oldest

BP 131/82 pulse is 121
Bp 110/73 pulse is 131
Bp 147/81 pulse is 96
Bp 116/78 pulse is 139
Bp 123/86 pulse is 106
Bp 114/71 pulse is 120
Bp 135/90 pulse is 121
Bp 116/83 pulse is 109
Bp 118/85 pulse is 111
Bp 129/80 pulse is 102
Bp 134/77 pulse is 112
Bp 133/83 pulse is 102

Does anyone know the accuracy of the home monitor. I didnt spend an arm and a leg on one so not sure if readings are right. Do the #s seem high or is it normal. Lately ive been running in the 100s but never in the 120-130s. That is as fast as my daughters rate. Im on rest so Im not doing anything but am having trouble catching my breath, breathing very hard.
