Re : big babies in next pregnancy
I was told that Anesthesiologists either prefer spinals or epidurals for a c/s. They only use general anesthesia when medically necessary. I was given a spinal, I wasn’t given a choice. If you are already laboring with an epidural, I would assume they would stick with the epidural, unless more medicine is needed.
I think a spinal tap is when they collect spinal fluid for diagnostic tests.

thank you! I had a minor stomach surgery when I was 16 and had a awful experience when I woke up and was allergic to the anesthesia so it made me very ill. so I am just terrified of any surgery big or small. I know they would do a spinal tap first right? most likely I wouldn't have general anesthesia right? I know either way I will be okay just a little worried lol thanks for the advice. how long is the recovery time with the c/s?
Re : big babies in next pregnancy
I definitely didn't want a c/s either, but it really worked out wonderfully. You will be fine!

oh no!!!! I am worried. I definitely don't want a c-section and I don't think I could naturally delivery a 9 pounder omg. Now I really hope they induce at 37 weeks. I think they will but I will push for it now. I have noticed a significant change in the size of my belly just over the last couple of weeks and they said the baby is measuring at 5pounds5ounces and I have had u/s every week since 25 weeks so it should be pretty accurate right?

holy moly they told me the other the day that the baby was measuring really big. hmmm.... I hope not haha wow mkvh 9 pounds 8 ounces wow
LOL...she was a c/s! At 40w5d, she estimated 10lb, 7oz on u/s. I'm genetically predisposed to large babies, though, as both mom and MIL had 9+lbers. And if you do the math on your son, full term he likely would have been anywhere from high 9s to 12lbs (based on the .5-1lb/week growth rule of thumb, though we know that isn't necessarily true for PE babies).

#1--7lbs, 13.4oz at 40w, PE (measured 2-3+ weeks head in fundal height till my BP went up at 35w)
#2--9lb, 8oz, 22" at 41w, NO PE
So definitely true for me. The OB who delivered #2 also commented on the enormity of the placenta...
