Beginning to question my doctor.....
Re : Beginning to question my doctor.....
Glad you got in to see the peri. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Neat! I graduated from USC in 99, and again with my masters in 2002.
Just heard back from my OB...have me scheduled to see the peri at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I'll keep you all updated! Thanks for everything!

Yes, I am from SC. I lived in Charleston most of my life, then moved to Cola when I was in college. I graduated from USC. Class of 97. I now live in Western NY. :)

That's very good news.
Please keep us posted; these pregnancies are nervewracking.

My OB just called to let me know that he's working on getting me an appt with the peri ASAP. Apparently the guy is hard to get in to because he's the only one around, but my OB said he's going to call the peri's sec. himself to get it scheduled. Hopefully I can get in soon.
Re : Beginning to question my doctor.....
You're trending towards severe gestational hypertension territory -- the cutoff is one reading of either of 160/100 -- so I'm hoping your peri consult is, like, tomorrow. High numbers this early in a pregnancy have to have very, very close monitoring and proactive care.
That's not said to scare you, but to encourage you to push for a consult with an MFM. Here's a link that might help you find one if there are delays with a referral: http://www.smfm.org

Re : Beginning to question my doctor.....
Left work today feeling bad....headache, seeing a bright spot. BP was 158/86 in office, protien at 0. Glad the bottom number isn't as high as it's been, but the top hasn't ever been that high. I saw my primary OBs partner because mine was out until this afternoon, so now I'm waiting on my reg doctor to call me and let me know what he wants to do.
In your opinion...how is this reading? I'd consider the bottom # good since it's below the 90, but I don't know what, if anything, that high top number means.
Thanks!

Thanks again, everyone! I'll make the request if my OB doesn't suggest it on his own. I'll let you kow how it goes!

Everyone else has pretty much said what I would say. Pleaes don't want until it's too late! I'll be thinking of you and please continue to update!!
Re : Beginning to question my doctor.....
Don't wait until you are feeling terrible. In two of my pregnancies I waited until I felt terrible and was induced the next day with both of them and the recovery was so much harder. With my youngest, the MFM doctor said it was time to deliver when my bp started spiking occasionally. Since he didn't wait for me to get really sick the recovery was so much easier.
If you are uncomfortable with your doctor's care, get a MFM or peri. to oversee your care. With a MFM overseeing things I got better care.
