Please keep us updated. I am glad you can take your results with you...did they ever do any blood tests? If anything feels off I would head in to L&D anyway like your PCP has advised; you should never feel silly for taking your healthcare seriously!

Hi girls. Thank you for all of the great advice. It's so comforting to know that I can talk to others who are experienced in what I'm going through.

I still can't believe that my OB told me that everything was fine and told me "not to be afraid to take tylenol". I did tell him that this is #6 for me (had PE diagnosed 3 days after #4 emergency c-section but they think it was present before just not detected...#4 was delivered for severe IUGR- less than 2% on percentile scale at 37 weeks) and I am by far NOT a complainer. I reminded him that when I had a pulmonary embolism several years ago I left that go 3 days and would've longer if my husband didn't beg me to get checked out after almost sufficating in bed.... even still I drove myself to the ER because I was convinced I just pulled a muscle. I certainly didn't expect the diagnosis and to end up in ICU hooked up to monitors for a week. The doctors were shocked I was alive let alone drive myself there.

I did request the results from my PCP today and am taking them with me to the OB on 3/4... thank goodness I'm not scheduled with the same OB that I saw in L&D the other day. My PCP told me in the meantime that I should monitor my blood pressure at home and if it rises or other symptoms start, to head straight to L&D.

I was able to schedule an appointment with a Maternal Fetal Specialist (****** ****** Hospital, PA) but the soonest I can get in on 3/11 unless the growth scan on 3/5 indicates a severe problem. I'll keep you posted on how all that goes.

hi! what does your reg doc want to do now? it seems he interpreted your results completely differently than the OB practise!! how frustrating. i see you have an appt early next week but if you feel badly i wouldnt wait if possible, and go in, even if you feel like you are making a nuisance of yourself. because youre NOT. i dont understand how some can look at results like that and just pass it off and say all is well, when another says it indicates a problem. please keep us updated on what is happening!

I think I am going to have to go with Caryn and suggest not waiting that long to have these issues addressed. Please keep us updated and continue to watch for those concerning symptoms!! Take good care of yourself!

I just was wanting to check in and see if you were able to get in or talk with someone. If you can take you PCP's results with you and ask for a liver function test too, it may be helpful just to be sure.

That's alot of protein, even with pressures that are not high all the time. My pressures never got to a point where they stayed high, but I still ended up with severe PE with Cerebral edema and 3 beats of clonus +4 reflexes every case presents itself differently. In your shoes I would not wait a week. I like Caryn's idea. Definitly see someone soon please

Melissa,

That's quite a lot of protein, even if your pressures aren't climbing high and staying high. Our Experts have said in the past that women with similar symptoms (proteinuria first) were probably looking at an unmasked kidney disorder that only caused notable problems when they were pregnant. The diagnostic criteria for preeclampsia are two readings of either of 140/90 and a 24-hour catch of 300 mg.

I would be very hesitant to wait a week to address this. Are you monitoring your blood pressure at home?

Could you put a call in to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist? There are some very good ones in Pennsylvania, on both sides of the state. Here's a link to help you find one in your area: http://www.smfm.org

I'm close to Pittsburgh and we have other posters close to Philly if you want to send email!

Welcome to this forum, I am sorry you had to find us. A PE headache is not always & usually not related to B/P. It is more of an indication of cerebral edema. Please go get things checked out. Those are not symptoms to play around with. Take care and let us know how you are doing.

Exactly. When I had THE headache, it wasn't touched by any medicines, even in the hospital, but my bp was actually not extreamly high at that point Still high for me, but it had been higher since my PE diagnosis. It was because of cerebral edema. Definitly go get checked.... better safe you know
