Procardia girl as well! I wasn't on it long, just for the 6 weeks pp. The only side effect I noticed was a strong metallic taste in my mouth that meant that I was drinking water constantly (positive side effect LOL!)

One word about procardia from me as well.....headache. But different meds affect people in diiferent ways so....it I will say it was successful in lowering my bp.

I was on it for a few weeks immediately postpartum. I had headaches, flushing, and horrible constipation...which really sucked considering I had a c/s. It didn't raise my heartrate...but I was bf and it did raise my babies'.

This could have been a problem, but Procardia wasn't doing a thing for my bp (not sure why), so they took me off of it.

I am glad you aren't having any side effects [:)].

Ohhh I forgot about the beet red cheeks. I had flushing too. I also had a really fast heartrate on it as well. My obgyn had a really hard time finding Sara's heartbeat because my heartbeat was just as fast as hers. They called it tachycardia.

I had severe cheek flushing on the procardia. I mean my cheeks would be beet red and not just warm, but hot to the touch.

I had horrible headaches on Procardia. They changed my meds after two days because they were so bad. I am glad to hear that you aren't having any of those side effects.

Meredith,

I was on Procardia postpartum after having Dylan. I didn't have any trouble with it. Good luck!

i take procardia 30 mg xl. though i will be switching to lisinpril..until i get pregnant again. procardia does loer my heartrate into the 50's at times. i developed HTN post-partum..but am destined to get it my mom and her mom got it before 40..though i am not yet 30. its weird because my machine runs high it will say 130/80 then when the nurse takes it its is 110/70..

I should say that I started out on 30mg of Procardia along with 2000mg of Aldomet. Then the week before I delivered, he upped it to 60mg of Procardia along with the 2000mg of Aldomet. Not sure what he was going to do next except deliver at that point.

I was put on Procardia during my last pregnancy, not for bp but for pre-term labor. I had a hard time with it as well. It gave me headaches, lots of nausea, and just a general feeling of "yuckiness". I was so happy to go off of it at 38 weeks. Also, the dose I was on did not have any effect on bp as my bp continued to go up until delivery was induced at 38 weeks.
