I just read the abstract, but this is what I gathered.
Usually in pregnancy the blood volume is increased as is Aldosterone. They have found that in PE that blood volume does not seem to increase and the levels of aldosterone are low.
With those that have the mutation V386A this diminished level is due to a particular step in the reactions necessary to make aldosterone which means that the fluid part (not the cells) of the blood is decreased. Screening for this may identify an at risk group for developing PE, nothing stated in abstract suggests possible treatments.

Thanks! I couldn't tell if it was too much or too little aldosterone.

That's weird because I was taking an Aldosterone antagonist when i got pregnant- and for almost the whole month after.

As I read it, they were looking at aldosterone as synthesized in the body naturally, so the study doesn't really address meds that affect aldosterone levels. I'm just making an educated guess on that, though!
