non stress test & amniotic fluid level US

Hi everyone, I am 30 weeks today and so far my blood pressure has been holding steady at around 128/79. Last March I delivered my daughter at 29 weeks, 6 days due to severe PE, so this is a big milestone for me :) At my two-week appointment today my doctor told me that at 32 weeks I would start week...

Re: Newbie

Hi! I had the same issues with milk production. I also wasn't able to see her for almost two days while they tried to get my blood pressure under control after my c-section, and continued to have high blood pressure for several months afterward. My daughter was born at 29 weeks 6 days and was in the...

Re: Seeing an MFM on Thursday!

After I delivered at 29 weeks from severe PE my OB advised me to never get pregnant again and pushed for me to have my tubes tied. I was not ready to give up trying for a second child, so when I got pregnant again I found a new OB. It happened within six months of delivery and was unplanned (partly ...

Re: BP Meds making BP too low?

I agree with alviarin.. call and ask your doctor first thing in the morning and ask. I have been running fairly steady around 127/79 for most of this pregnancy so my OB hasn't had me on any BP meds yet, but she told me that she would start me on meds if I started regularly exceeding 130/80 (my nephr...

Re: Very scared... kidney disease after pre e?

I don't think you can do much to raise your GFR, other than bring things like hypertension and diabetes under control. Those things affect the blood creatinine level, which is one semi-controllable variable in the calculation. Other variables like age are not controllable, which is why everybody's G...

Re: Very scared... kidney disease after pre e?

Something I forgot to add about diet: my aunt who had the transplant is also a registered dietician and is pretty much an expert in diets for kidney health, not only by training but also by personal experience. Her first transplant (from a deceased donor) lasted 31 years before it started to fail an...

Re: Very scared... kidney disease after pre e?

Kidney disease simply means that you have reduced kidney function. The severity of the disease depends on how much your kidney function is reduced, and what is the cause. There are 5 different stages of chronic kidney disease. Here is a good link for information about it: http://www.kidney.org/kidne...

Re: Anyone have natural labor, or induction w/o pain meds?

I have only given birth once, and that was a c-section, so I can't really speak to what it's like to have natural labor with PE. However, afterward my blood pressure was still really high and I was in the hospital for another five days. During that time the nurses wanted me to take meds for the c-se...

Re: Family knows - let the guilt set in!

That is a pretty unkind thing to say to you. I think that people who haven't gone through this really don't understand fully what it feels like. I told my parents before I told my brothers, and my parents were very supportive. However, my mom told me that at Thanksgiving my brothers had been guessin...

Re: BP still spiking 9 days post-partum... Questions

Nephrologists also treat hypertension because it is so closely related to kidney disease (hypertension and diabetes are the two leading causes of kidney failure). If you had elevated protein in your urine or reduced kidney function due to the preeclampsia, your OB also probably wants to make sure so...
