Re : Asthma and autoimmune issues maybe?

<t>Your body could be rejecting the implanting embryo due to auto-immune concerns. I got pregnant while on oral steroids for an asthma flare -- and I wasn't the only one to get (finally) pregnant with the use of low-dose steroids. What my doctor thought was that the steroids damped down the inflamma...

Re : For what reasons is a BPP done?

<t>You could ask for a fetal echocardiogram if they have concerns about the heart. That would be done by a specialist (sonographer and/or physician) in congenital heart disease. Chances are, they just weren't getting a good look at the time, but it would be more reassuring, I'd think, to hear that f...

Re : Early preeclampsia?

<t>I rarely had elevated blood pressures, but I had the hyper-reflexia, the swelling (several pounds a week in spite of careful diet), and the protein. It wasn't until the very end, at 36 weeks, w/me not able to walk and with elevated kidney and liver enzymes, that they admitted that it was likely p...

Re : expressing milk problems

<t>I don't know when your baby was born, but I do remember it took ten days for my milk to well and truly come in, and then, even with all the fiddling I did, I only ever pumped about 30 cc at a time. My DD could not eat anything for the first five weeks (due to intestinal surgery, not to prematurit...

Re : Am I overreacting?

<t>Mazel tov to you all, and great news that everyone is going home together!<br/> <br/> Please make sure your wife's doctor stays on top of her labs and blood pressure until they go back to normal. You mentioned some sort of "heart problem" -- her cardiologist should also be aware that she's had th...

Re : Did anyone had kidney disorders after preeclampsia

I had that and it turned out to be a whopper of a kidney infection. That being said, I did get it checked out with a culture. A couple of weeks of antibiotics did take care of it.

Hope yours is so easily solved! I know how scary that is.

Re : Very worried and not being heard!!

<t>Please do go in tonight if need be. Perhaps you'll get someone who isn't quite so "casual" about these very real and scary symptoms. You know your body, and you know what's not "right" about how you feel.<br/> <br/> I'll be thinking of you, and hoping you're in somewhere safe and getting tested a...

Re : Long-term survivors?

<t>I try to raise awareness, everywhere I can, and when we have a pregnant patient (or immediately post-partum), I try to take that patient for the type of testing that I do, and remind the doctors (if they forget...we have a large perinatal service and a number of cardiologists, so they're pretty g...
