Re : platelets question

<t>As a HELLP survivor I have started donating platelets -it is almost like therapy for me since I feel like I am actually doing something to help others who were in my situation. When donating you can donate a single every 3 day or a double every 7 days since they regenerate so quickly. I don't kno...

Re : Straight to HELLP and only HELLP.

Thanks for the article Caryn! The differences in the proteins makes a lot of sense for why the symptoms can be so different sometimes, but similar other times. Thanks!

Re : Future "treatment" of pre-e, HELLP

<t>Wow Caryn - as an AP Biology teacher I love your explanation about the evolution of human reproduction with regards to the problem of "well developed baby vs fitting through the birth canal." I think that you really explained it well and did a great job with the idea that women have more "investe...

Re : Straight to HELLP and only HELLP.

I had the same experience. In fact, you could replace my name with Jennifer's post because our cases were very similar. i still have trouble with HELLP being a variant of PE, because my situation was all HELLP with none of the PE symptoms (except for MAJOR swelling) Wishing you the best!

Re : What were your symptoms if any? Worried!

<t>I second the simple blood test as a great way to know what is going on with your body. Please go and get that checked out now. My HELLP progressed very quickly and I was sick on a Friday. I wanted to wait until Monday to go to the DR since I had an appointment then anyway. My husband and dad made...

Re : helping family understand...

<t>My story is not here, but I would be more than happy to share if it would help. I understand that it can be very hard for family to get the idea that this is serious. Most people I talk to about my HELLP had no idea that there was anything out there that could cause you to get so sick so quickly....

Re : dr. changing baseline bp?

<t>It seems that the idea of a baseline is to have a starting point for comparison later. If the doctor changes the baseline, than it doesn't seem to be a baseline, it seems to be an update on your average blood pressure. As for the dip, you can always do it yourself (although I can't believe that y...

Re : epi-gastric pain?

<t>My epigastric pain is what finally sent me in. I would suggest blood tests to check your liver enzymes. It is a simple way to find out how your liver is doing. Realize, however, that these numbers can change very quickly and you can go from slightly elevated liver enzymes to full class I HELLP in...

Congratulations on both the birth of Max and what sounds to be a great recovery from an awful post partum experience. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a joyful homecoming very soon!
