Re : Overkill?

<t>Regarding Bloods: I thought you have to draw blood within a short period of turning the 24h urine in, to get a consistent picture. <br/> <br/> Regarding ultra-sound: I think they want to monitor growth, since diminished growth is a bad sign, even if the size of your baby now is great. <br/> <br/>...

Re : I think I am not getting good care.

<t>I am sorry you are unsure about your medical care and unfortunately don't have any advice. In my medical care we are having a puzzle about BP monitoring (my is consistently low with manual mercury BP meters, but high with electronic ones). I have just opened a new thread on this, because the doct...

Re : should my husband be tested?

Caryn, thanks so much for this excellent explanation. Yes, complicated indeed. I am always amazed that it works in so many cases and we have children in the end.

Ongoing puzzle about measuring BP. Any ideas?

<t>Whenever my BP is measured in the doctors office with a manual mercury blood pressure monitor, it is around 80/120. When I use an electronic <br/> SPHYGMOMANOMETERS (upper arm, correct cuff size) it is around 20-30ml higher (105/140). <br/> <br/> I know that BP can fluctuate as function of the da...

Re : 24 hour urine question

<t>I am no medical expert but I think the "definition" of pre-eclampsia in the US has changed to elevated BP (140/90) 6h apart *OR* 24h-protein of more than 300mg. I am diagnosed with mild pre-eclampsia purely on the protein (>300mg), although my BP has never been higher than (120/80) (single measur...

Re : hydrotherapy (swimming)

<t>I have been told by midwife, that submersion in water reduces BP while you are in it, but it tends to spike after you came out. This was in the context of water birthing with pre-eclampsia. I do not know if there is any medical evidence for this statement, but it seems to make sense, since the wa...

Re : 2nd semester preeclampsia

Thanks for your messaged. Today my protein was 375mg, so I am diagnosed with 2nd trimester pre-eclampsia. It is mild so far and I hope it will stay mild as long a possible. Thank you very much for your posts and reassurance.

Re : 2nd semester preeclampsia

<t>Dear Rachael and Patty, <br/> I read with interest your signatures and am "surprised" and very sorry that you had pre-eclampsia in every pregnancy. I was told that there is a 17% chance of re-occurrence in a subsequent pregnancy and since I developed it so late (at 42 weeks), that my chances of n...

Re : 2nd semester preeclampsia

<t>Thank you so much for your posts - they were very helpful.<br/> The last week was a bit of a roller coaster:<br/> Although the high BP was confirmed by my GP, it was below the critical value 120/75 and 130/80 at the OBGYN. But the 24h-protein showed 4600 grams which is indicative of kidney failur...
