Re: Slow Onset?

How are you doing? I limped along with transient URQ pain for a few weeks before my liver enzymes spiked up. I don't think that the pain changed all that much, but I started to have serious nausea and vomiting when things got bad. I would watch out for any worsening symptoms or new symptoms and go i...

Re: New and confused

How are you? There are quite a few of us who managed to get very sick without ever meeting the diagnostic criteria for high blood pressure. Mine only reached 135/80, but that is a big jump from 90/60. Please keep bugging your doctor if the visual disturbances continue. You can also just go in to L&D...

Re: Leg cramps?

I lived on TUMS (on my doctor's advice) while I was pregnant. She said it helps with the heartburn, provides extra Ca, and it helped manage leg cramps for me. You could ask your doctor about taking them. I find bananas and potatoes pretty effective medicine for leg cramps too.

Re: Brewer's Diet for High Bp and even Pre-e?

Just agreeing with the previous posters - we all really wish there was something like diet that could prevent or manage PE. There isn't. There is no science behind the high-protein diet. Many of us think it is outright harmful because it often makes women feel guilty for not trying hard enough or st...

Re: Conceiving Closer Together = Decreased Chance of Recurra

If I'd had any idea that the nausea and pain I felt when HELLP presented was something serious and not just pregnancy discomfort, I'd have been in the hospital 18 hours sooner. If I were to feel that again with round two, I'd be there immediately! I am right there with you on that point! I don't kn...

Re: Recovery with Internal Bleeding

I don't have a good answer for you, but I will be thinking of your friend. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. As you know, HELLP is very dangerous, but there are a few posters on the forum who have survived being this sick. It can happen. Thoughts and prayers to your friend.

Re: Conceiving Closer Together = Decreased Chance of Recurra

You can find some information on HELLP-specific recurrence from one of the experts here: http://www.preeclampsia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3387 I would ignore the bit about anti-oxidant supplementation since more recent research has suggested that it is not helpful. There are also more recent studie...

Re: Terrified of pre E in my next pregnancy!!

Hi Nic, Welcome to the forums! I think it is perfectly normal and healthy to be nervous or scared about getting pregnant again. Your doctor is usually your best resource for information on the odds that Pre-E will recur, but there are some general guidelines. The first one is that Pre-E tends to be ...
