Re: baby after loss

First, I'm happy to hear Carter is home! As for dealing with a preemie/NICU newborn after a loss....well, that one is tricky. I worried constantly! Aden slept in a bassinet next to my bed for several months and I would wake up every hour or two just to make sure he was breathing. This went on until ...

Re: Fear of PP PE

My BP was good throughout my last pregnancy but went up PP (in the 150/110 range). We had to increase my labetalol 1.5 times the dose I was on at delivery, but I did NOT develop PE. For me, I think it had a lot to do with all the hormonal shifts after delivery, the stress of having a baby in NICU, M...

Re: Carter is here!

Congratulations!!! I hope Carter's stay in the NICU is short. My son was born at 36w5d and spent just over 2 weeks in the NICU. He had respiratory distress and went to the NICU immediately after delivery. His breathing was so fast, they didn't want any of us to even touch him for the first couple of...

Re: When to tell people the news?

Well, you might think your husband is crazy, but that is what I did during my 2nd pregnancy. We were either 30-32 weeks before we shared the news! We did tell our parents, siblings and a couple of very close friends sooner than that because they supported us throughout the pregnancy. (The friends we...

Re: Prometrium and Sex During Early Pregnancy (updated labs

I've been on prometrium during all my pregnancies. The first two were IVF pregnancies and I started out on projesterone in oil injections until around 7 weeks and then switched to prometrium until around 10 weeks. My current pregnancy was a surprise and I started on prometrium when I found out which...

Re: Steriod shot reactions

Wow, that sucks. I'm really surprised they gave them to you already before you are showing any symptoms (unless there's something else you didn't mention?) The shots are a lot more effective when they are given the same week as delivery, though I can understand why they want you to get them! I hope...

Re: NST and BPP fail + overall update

Well, it has been almost 2 years since I had the NST in the 2nd trimester, but if IIRC, some of those decels can be explained by non-PE related things such as the baby grabbing the chord. I think in instances like that the h/r goes back up rather quickly. Also, I don't think practice breathing is co...

Re: Contractions?

I think it was around 25 weeks when my OB told me some contractions were completely normal from that point forward. He told me to call if: 1) they were painful, 2) accompanied by bleeding, or 3) if I had several in one hour. I was having a couple per day at that time.

Re: Anyone have pre-e in prior pgcy then just PIH?

Well, I don't think this is exactly what you're looking for, but here is my story... In my first pregnancy I developed severe PE at 26 weeks and delivered at 26w5d. My daughter passed away shortly after delivery. My BP never went back down and I was officially diagnosed with CHTN, but did not test p...
